Attributed To Charles Ricketts (1866-1931)/Charles Haslewood Shannon/ bust portrait facing right, embossed copper roundel, inscribed, 7cm (2.75") diameter and another Fontis Ad Originem (for the origin of the fountain) embossed copper roundel of a crouching figure drinking from a spring/Charles Ricketts and Charles Shannon were life long artistic and personal partners, together they founded the Dial Magazine (1889-1897) and the Vale Press. Shannon`s portrait of Ricketts `The Man in an Inverness Cloak` shows the sitter`s head in profile `turning away from the 20th Century to think only of the 15th`; Ricketts admired this portrait and the roundel of Shannon could be seen to be doing the same./Provenance: B G Burrough Colyton Devon q.v. Manner of Sir Peter Lely, Portrait of a young girl, believed to be Charlotte Lee, later Countess of Lichfield (1664 - 1718), with a servant boy, oil on canvas, 122cm x 98cm.Charlotte was the illegitimate daughter of Charles II and his most notorious mistress, Barbara Palmer née Villiers, Countess of Castlemaine. She was married at the age of 12 to Charles Lee, later created Earl of Lichfield. She had 18 children.
Plated wares, comprising: a plant pot stand, an oval lidded entree dish, an oval cruet base stand, a shaped circular dish, a pint mug, a bon bon dish with a swing over handle and with pierced decoration, a circular dish with a classical portrait to the centre, a pair of small tots, another tot, a presentation beaker, a candle snuffer and a rectangular cigarette box.
