William Francis Vere Kebbell (1888-1963), Portrait of Joanna Denise Vere Kebbell, half length wearing a blue velvet dress seated before an open window, signed top right, pastel, 59 x 50cm Notes: William Kebbell was born in Queensland, Australia in 1888 and forged a successful carrer as a portrait painter in London. He was a member of the Ipswich Art club from 1922 - 1926 and also exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy. He specialised in pastels and was a member of the Pastel society, Royal Institute of oil painters; he also found a commercial outlet for his work through the Walker Gallery. The sitter in this work is Joanna Kebbell; the daughter of William Kebbell. She was an accomplished ballerina who trained with the Bolshoi. She also enjoyed a successful career as a dance teacher and choreographer.

19TH CENTURY CHINESE SCHOOL "Mandarin", a portrait study from side, with curtain behind, oil on canvas, unsigned, 40 cm x 33 cm CONDITION REPORTS Provenance - local private source apparently acquired by a relative from China and by repute assumed to be by George Chinory though this was not felt to be the case by us hence the current attribution or lack of. Still appears to be a well painted piece of a man of social stature. See images for further detail. Age appears to be 19th Century hence the catalogue description as 19th Century Chinese School.

A Vienna decorated porcelain ovoid potpourri vase and cover, painted and signed by Wagner with a half-length portrait of Mrs. Siddons after Gainsborough, depicted wearing 18th Century attire and a plumed hat on a landscape background, within beaded gilt borders, titled to the underside in iron-red, beehive mark and number 1267 in red, gilt obscured underglaze-blue mark, 16cms.
Scott (John) The Sportsman's Cabinet or A Correct Delineation of the Canine Race, folio, gilt calf, illus. with engravings - a unique collection of the first impressions of each plate bound without text and including a lithograph portrait of John Scott, this copy signed and inscribed by Scott and two witnesses, 1803, bearing the bookplates of Charles Deane and Paxton Parkin.
Attributed to Sir Thomas Lawrence (1769-1830) A portrait of Eleanor Carne (b.13th November 1769), daughter of Rev. John Carne, with inscription "This picture was taken by Sir Thos. Lawrence, President of the Royal Society (at Bath), when he was only 17 years old & Miss Carne was then 14 years - Miss Carne was married to Thomas Markham Esq., of Cheltenham, 29th Aug. 1790 - He died 19th Nov. 1824 aged 70 at Nash. She died at Nash 10th Oct. 1842 aged 73" verso, pastel, 30 x 25cms oval, in frame.
