19th century Pencil and watercolour Attributed to Sir Thomas Lawrence, R.A. entitled "Lady Elizabeth Gower", portrait, 18 x 14cm, in gilt gilded mount within foliate gesso frame, glazed. Lady Elizabeth Levesor-Gower (1797-1891), daughter of the 2nd Marquess of Stafford and sister of the 2nd Duke of Sutherland, her father being the 1st Duke of Sutherland. She married the 2nd Viscount of Belgrave, later the 2nd Marquess of Westminster. Lawrence painted her portrait in 1880, and it now belongs to the Duke of Sutherland, C. Gervan Huxley, Lady Elizabeth and the Grosvenor, Oxford University Press, 1965 (information given verso)
Isaac Wane Slater - Oval Miniature Head and Shoulders Portrait of a Lady, her Hair in Ringlets and wearing a Ribbon and Lace Bonnet and White Lace-edged Fichu over a Black Dress, watercolour on ivory, signed and dated 1831 recto, approx 7cm x 6cm, within an oval and gilt metal mount, cased, with associated family notes.
ARMSTRONG LOUIS: (1901-1971) American Jazz Trumpeter. Dark fountain pen ink signature (`Louis Armstrong`) and four additional words in his hand on a page removed from an autograph album. Dated 30th August 1933 in his hand. Matted in black beneath a reproduction image of Armstrong and framed and glazed in a wooden frame to an overall size of 11.5 x 18. Together with Paul Robeson (1898-1976) American Singer and Actor. Bold blue fountain pen ink signature (`Best wishes, Paul Robeson`) on a page removed from an autograph album. The signature is neatly encased in a black box and a small magazine portrait of the singer is affixed in the lower right corner. Matted in black and grey beneath a reproduction image of Robeson and framed and glazed in a wooden frame to an overall size of 10 x 15.5. VG, 2
CLINE PATSY: (1932-1963) American Country and Pop Music Singer. Rare vintage signed 8 x 10 photograph, an engaging image of Cline in a smiling head and shoulders pose. The Decca Records publicity portrait has been signed by Cline in blue fountain pen ink across a light area of the image. Also signed (`Sincere Thanks, Patsy Cline`) in bold blue ink to the verso, alongside signatures of three of her musicians (?). Cline has further added the name (`Patsy Cline Fan Club`; effectively a third signature) and address of her fan club to the verso, also providing details of the annual subscription. Signed photographs of Cline are extremely rare following her tragically early death at the age of 30 in an air crash, and this is a particularly desirable example. STARR RINGO: (1940- ) English Musician, drummer with The Beatles. Signed and inscribed postcard photograph of Starr in a head and shoulders pose holding a polaroid photograph of himself. Signed (with his full signature) in blue ink across a light area of the image. A couple of letters in the inscription and signature are a touch light. Together with Louis Armstrong (1901-1971) American Jazz Trumpeter. A printed 4to souvenir programme for a concert by Louis Armstrong and his All-Stars, Third British Tour, April-May 1962, signed (`Louis Armstrong`) in green ink with his name alone to a clear area of the centre page alongside his portrait and those of his musicians (ink annotations in the hand of a collector). EINSTEIN ALBERT: (1879-1955) German-born Theoretical Physicist, Nobel Prize winner for Physics, 1921. Vintage signed and inscribed postcard photograph, being a reproduction of a portrait of Einstein by artist Morris J. Kallem. Signed (`A. Einstein`) and inscribed in fountain pen ink, in German, to the clear lower border and dated 1945 in his hand. A very slight surface crease just affects a couple of letters in the inscription, otherwise VG
FERRARI ENZO: (1898-1988) Italian Race Car Driver & Manufacturer, founder of the Scuderia Ferrari Grand Prix motor racing team. A colour 4to folding brochure issued by Ferrari, with many illustrations and text in Italian, French, German and English, signed (‘Ferrari’) in ink by Enzo Ferrari with his name alone to a clear area alongside his colour portrait. GARLAND JUDY: (1922-1969) American Actress and Singer, famous for her portrayal of Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz (1939). Academy Award winner. Vintage signed and inscribed 7 x 9 photograph of Garland seated in a three quarter length pose admiring a charm bracelet which was presented to her by Clark Gable. The original M-G-M publicity portrait is signed in bold blue fountain pen ink to a light area of the background, `To Ingrid, love, Judy Garland`. A couple of very light, extremely minor smudges to the signature. Professionally double matted in green and brown and framed and glazed in a decorative frame to an overall size of 12.5 x 15. ELIZABETH II: (1926- ) Queen of the United Kingdom 1952- . A good, large vintage signed 11 x 16 photograph, the image showing the newly crowned Queen Elizabeth II riding in the Gold State Coach, wearing the Imperial State Crown and holding the Sceptre with the Cross and the Orb in her hands, returning to Buckingham Palace following the Coronation Ceremony at Westminster Abbey. Hundreds of onlookers can be seen in the background and in the immediate foreground appear two footmen and a beefeater who escort the coach. Signed (`Elizabeth R`) in fountain pen ink to the lower photographer`s mount and dated 2nd June 1953 in her hand. Matted to an overall size of 13 x 19. Signed photographs of Queen Elizabeth II in this form, bearing the date of her Coronation, are extremely rare. Some very slight, extremely minor light staining at the base, only minimally affecting the signature. Otherwise VG Provenance: Accompanied by a letter from the author Graham Fisher stating that the photograph was presented to Ralphe M. White, one of the footmen seen in the image, by the Queen. White had served as footman to King George VI from 1946-52 and continued to serve Queen Elizabeth II until the early 1960s. Fisher collaborated with White on his book The Royal Family-A Personal Portrait, published in New York, 1969, and it was while working together that White presented Fisher with the present photograph.
MELBOURNE VISCOUNT: (1779-1848) British Prime Minister 1834, 1835-41. A.L.S., Melbourne, one page, 4to, Brocket Hall, 21st October 1836, to Palmerston. Melbourne writes, in full, `If we cannot interfere openly, it will never do to engage in a conspiracy in favour of the Queen of Portugal`. With blank integral leaf. A letter of interesting content between two Prime Ministers. A brief printed biography and small circular magazine portrait are neatly laid down at the base of the letter alongside the small circular ownership stamp from the Rawlins Collection. Together with Clementine S. Churchill (1885-1977) Wife of Sir Winston S. Churchill. T.L.S., Clementine S. Churchill, one page, 4to, Hyde Park Gate, London, 7th January 1964, to Miss. Harber. Churchill encloses a prize (no longer present) for a tombola being organised for the Annual Dance in aid of the British Empire Cancer Campaign for Research and also comments `My Husband and I are delighted that Colonel Barlow Wheeler`s work should have public recognition, and I am sure that-like you-many of his friends in Woodford join us in this.` G to VG, 2 Viscount Palmerston (1784-1865) British Prime Minister 1855-58, 1859-65. Palmerston, who married Melbourne`s sister, died at Brocket Hall in Hertfordshire.
MILOSEVIC SLOBODAN: (1941-2006) President of Serbia 1989-1997 & President of Yugoslavia 1997-2000. Extremely rare signed colour folding slim 4to election campaign brochure bearing a colour image of Milosevic with printed text beneath, and a further twenty smaller portraits of other party candidates, each with printed text. Signed by Milosoveic with his name alone beneath his portrait. VG Apparently obtained in person at a pre-election rally in Belgrade, 2000.
STUDENT KURT: (1890-1978) German Luftwaffe General of World War II. Signed colour 4 x 6 postcard, being a reproduction of Student`s portrait by Willrich, showing him in a head and shoulders pose wearing his uniform. Signed in blue ink to a light area at the base of the image, with his rank and several additional words in his hand. Together with a blue ink signature and inscription by Student on the verso of his visiting card, 26th July 1966. Also including Hermann-Bernhard Ramcke (1889-1968) German General, Knight`s Cross winner with Swords, Oak Leaves and Diamonds. Signed 6 x 8 photograph of Ramcke in a half length pose wearing his uniform and Knight`s Cross. Signed (`H. B. Ramcke`, with rank beneath) in bold blue fountain pen ink to the lower photographer`s mount. Accompanied by an A.L.S., Ramcke, one page, 4to, Wuppertal-Vohwinkel, 29th January 1959, to Mr. Pitzoldt, in German (untranslated). Together with a few pieces of printed ephemera relating to the death of Ramcke. VG, 7

Shackleton`) on a card with a small magazine portrait of Shackleton neatly affixed above the signature. Laid down to an 8vo page removed from an autograph album. Also laid down to the page, and slightly overlapping the edges of Shackleton`s card, are individual clipped pieces signed by Herbert Ponting (1870-1935) English Photographer, Expedition Photographer and Cinematographer for Robert Falcon Scott`s Terra Nova Expedition 1910-13 and Harry de Windt (1856-1933) Explorer and Travel Writer.
