A First World War Pair, awarded to Captain Charles Hirst of the 1/4th Battalion, Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment, comprising a British War Medal and Victory Medal, together with research material, a volume of The History of the 1/4th Battn., Duke of Wellington's (W.R.) Regt. 1914-1919 in which he is mentioned together with his portrait photograph, also, a silver Masonic Hallstone jewel and an enamelled and gilt Charity jewel. Footnote:- Captain Charles Hirst was killed on 3rd September 1916 at the Battle of the Somme, aged 22 years. He is remembered with Honour at the Thiepval Memorial.
