Early 19th century longcase clock with 12 inch painted break arch dial with floral spandrels, subsidiary seconds and calendar dials, signed 'Thos. Revis, Cambridge', break arch with urns and hot air balloon, in an oak case with arched door, hood with fluted columns and swan-neck pediment with applied brass roundels, 204cm overall height (weights and pendulum present, winding key lacking). Sold with provenance and miniature portrait of a gentleman connected with the clock.
English School, early 19th century - portrait miniature on ivory of Thomas Goble, Naval Officer and Secretary to Nelson, inscribed to label verso 'Lieut. Thomas Goble, H.M.S. Victory, Trafalgar, 1805' oval, 4 x 3.5cm, glazed turned wood frame. NB: Thomas Goble was initially responsible for recording signals during the famous battle, however when Nelson's secretary John Scott was killed, Goble was promoted to the position of Secretary to Nelson, a position he held for approximately one hour until Nelson was shot and killed. John Goble survived the action and lived until the age of 89.

Attributed to Willem Wissing. No. 365, J. L. Fytche Sale, Thorpe Hall, Louth, Lincolnshire, 27th June 1885. Bought by Geoffrey Harmsworth Esq. of Thorpe Hall from Miss Grace Greswell, 7 George Street, Louth (whose father acquired it at the 1885 sale), May 5th 1939...’
A RELIC OF JAMES STEWART, 1st Earl of Moray (Murray), (c.1531-1570, Regent 1567-1570, illegitimate son of King James V, half brother to Mary Queen of Scots), a fragment said to be a "piece of the bed curtains of Regent Murray...", 18 x 18cm, framed with a fairly detailed hand written provenance dating from Francis Stuart 10th Earl of Moray up to 1888, and an engraved bookplate portrait of James Earl of Moray.

Inscribed verso with quotes from Lord Francis Bacon and John M. MacPhail. In need of restoration.
