A Reginald John Rex Whistler (1905 -1944) for Wedgwood "Queensware" (creamware) jug and sugar bowl with fluted sides raised foot and a flared lip. In Rex Whistler's "Clovelly" pattern with a central scene of Clovelly harbour and floral vignettes, with trophies of capstans and cannons and lobster pots and oars to the outside. Printed marks to the base with impressed "WEDGWOOD" mark. The "Clovelly" pattern was first designed by Rex Whistler in 1932 for use as a toile de jouy fabric. It was commissioned by Christine Hamlyn Fane (1855-1936) the benefactor and owner of the Clovelly Estate, who was responsible for the preservation and upkeep of the historic and picturesque Devon fishing village. Christine Hamlyn (known to Rex Whistler as "Aunt Christine") also sat for a portrait by the artist at her home, Clovelly Court. Shortly after the toile de jouy fabric went into production the design was adapted by Wedgwood for use in a range of ceramic teawares. Wedgwood's "Clovelly" pattern comes in five colourways: Black (as here); Blue; Red; Green and Sepia. In the earliest productions it is usually encountered in creamware ("Queensware") though, occasionally, bone china pieces can be found. In the later, post-war, issues it is generally found in stoneware.

Three antique albums to include album 1: Raphael Tuck album containing a number of Edwardian hand-tinted postcards, Union Jack portrait cards. various actress of the time post cards including Phyllis & Zena Dare, Edna May, Gabrielle Ray, Mabel Love and Pauline Chase amongst others, a collection of WW1 era embroidered sweetheart souvenir postcards and other various postcards including landscapes and comedy. In generally good condition, spine has slightly came away from the binding with some wear to the board edge, pages themselves in very good condition as are the postcards. Album 2: Raphael Tuck post card album with dahlia and oriental style scene. Inner message written in pencil reads: 'Steal not this book away, my honest friend. For fear of shame, for when you see the owners name. If you do, the Lord will say 'Where is that book you stole away?' If you say you do not know , the Lord will say 'Go down below!' Miss Edith Norman 153 John St, Workington . The owner of this book.' Containing a quantity of black and white and hand-tinted Edwardian actress postcards, various greetings cards dated 1905 and others. Wear to the corners can be seen, the spine has deteriorated but pages remain tight, postcards in excellent condition. Album 3: a newspaper cutting album with newspaper clippings dating between c1920-c1940 to include: engagement announcements, obituaries, death in service announcements and various other headlines. Very good condition, strong bindings with no loose pages. A good example of social history from the time. (3)

A Fine copy of this large book number 934 0f 1000 in its Limited Edition, running to xvi + 232 pages of portrait A4 format. The book is bound in a green Skivertex hard cover with gilt lettering to the spine and front cover. This edition includes some 130 autographs and illustrated biographies of the same number of players and captains, separately arranged alphabetically and followed by a portfolio of colour photographs of some 50 Springboks at home or outdoors in the late 1980’s.

Ptolemaic Period, Ca. 400 BC. A granite head of a priest. The partial baldness of the official indicates maturity, with tufts of hair retained above the ears. The hooded eyes and the furrow between the eyebrows are reminiscent of royals from the Ptolemaic period. His features are characteristic of a wise ruler and identify the man as a member of high office. This colourful design depicting Dylan's profile with swirling hair by the notable graphic designer Milton Glaser (1929-2020) was inspired by a self portrait of Marcel Duchamp; the poster was commissioned as an insert for positive publicity for Dylan's Greatest Hits album following the false rumours of his death after his motorcycle accident in 1966. Man Ray (born Emmanuel Radnitzky, 1890-1976) was an American visual artist who spent most of his career in Paris. He was a significant contributor to the Dada and Surrealist movements, although his ties to each were informal. He produced major works in a variety of media but considered himself a painter above all. He was best known for his pioneering photography, and was a renowned fashion and portrait photographer.
