Wallis as the Act Directs, 1803, hand-coloured engraving mounted on linen, comprising 157 circles, terminating in an oval portrait of King George III, approx. 51cm by 55cm.
A rare c1760 George III Longton Hall porcelain tankard with a scroll handle, signed J. Sadler, Liverpool, the slightly bellied body printed with a half length portrait flanked by floral and foliate branches and ribboned inscription, a spray of thistles and roses to each side, height 12.7cm. Restored. (See illustration) Note: See The Joseph M. Hadley Collection reference 1.18 page 31. Inspiration for this Sadler engraving came from the portrait of HRH George Prince of Wales by Henry Morland. We believe this is the same mug sold by Special Auction Services near Reading on June 9th 2002, for which the condition was described as 'one piece broken out and glued'. Condition Report: The tankard has been restored to much of the top edge and rim. The restoration would probably not been seen unless it was pointed out and has been well done, but when tapped there is a dull sound.
