A rare Sunderland or Newcastle Death of Nelson commemorative cream ware frog mug, early 19th century, printed in black with a titled portrait of Adl Lord Nelson, flanked by the figures of Jack Tar and Britannia, surrounded by the Union Jack and naval trophies above the dates of Lord Nelson's birth and death, the interior applied with a brown frog with red eyes, 5.5" high.
A Victorian Grecian revival black slate mantle clock, 19th century, with architectural pediment surmounted by a bronzed Assyrian portrait bust above a 4.5" black dial with raised foliate gilt cast centre, roman numerals, eight day movement striking on a gong, lion's mask ring handles, canted plinth on fluted block feet, 17" high and a pair of associated portrait busts of Wellington and Napoleon on trophy cast plinths, damaged, 14" (3).
A Liverpool pottery commemorative jug, c. 1824, the rim inscribed 'In commemoration of the visit of Gen Lafayette to the U.S. of America, in the year 1824'. One side with a portrait of Lafayette, the other of George Washington. The front with a coat of arms and 'Republicans are not always ungrateful', printed above the makers mark, 'Ric'd Hall & Son'. Spout with chips, some crazing, 12.5cm.
Frederick YatesA LAKELAND LANDSCAPE WITH A FIGURE AND HORSESSigned and dated 1903oil on canvas 38 x 48cm unframed. Yates was a Lake District artist based in Rydal. He painted Lake District landscapes and was also a notable portrait painter. His commissions included a portrait of Woodrow Wilson, who was a frequent visitor to the area. A friendship developed, culminating in an invitation to Wilson's Presidential inauguration.
