A pair of likely French 19th century porcelain footed vases in the manner of Sevres. Each with black band to rim, tapering body featuring central portrait study cartouches on pink ground. This raised over ebonised and gilt parcel footed bases. One in two pieces with significant damage, the other with hairlines to underside and loose foot.Measures approx. 21cm tall.

As described on the cover, the images reflect Bailey’s personal world of fashion, pop music, and the Ad Lib nightclub. Each portrait is paired with notes by Francis Wyndham, a writer, literary editor, and journalist. Together, the collection captures the essence of the burgeoning celebrity culture of the 1960s, with many portraits becoming iconic representations of London’s cultural figures during the Swinging Sixties. Notably, only four of the “pin-ups” are women, including Jean Shrimpton, one of the most famous models of the era who collaborated almost exclusively with Bailey.
