SIR KYFFIN WILLIAMS RA two handwritten letters dated April 1981 and May 1993, written by Sir Kyffin Williams to the vendor, who had embarked on a dissertation on Sir Kyffin whilst doing her Fine Art Degree at Aberystwyth University. She visited him at his home in Llanfair PG and was given a welcome with tea and cake. A part of his letter of May 1993 reads '....I was fascinated by your remarks about your study on me. Perhaps I didn't tell you quite how unpopular I am with Members of the Welsh Art Establishment such as ......... No wonder they puffed and sniffed for they believe that I am the greatest living danger to Welsh Art. Of course they may be right but the Welsh public doesn't think so. It is said that antagonism continued to increase when I was made an RA twenty years ago. At the time I longed to work on a sheep station but preferably in the Australian Outback...' The letter then includes a self-portrait sketch of Sir Kyffin on a donkey before ending 'Best Wishes, Kyffin'
