A jewelled porcelain snuff box 2nd half 18th century, painted with a portrait between two putti, the base with a landscape and the sides with motifs of victory and war, four enamel patch or snuff boxes, variously decorated with figures, birds, flowers and sayings, and a porcelain box with hinged lid, printed in blue with an Oriental design, some losses, 8cm max. A pair of Bohemian green glass portrait vases, 19th century, of tall baluster bottle form, each applied with a painted oval plaque with a portrait bust of a young lady, the reverse with a plaque decorated with a variety of summer flowers, the glass profusely decorated with gilded leafy tendrils, 12½ in. high
Harry Lauder Interest; from the Estate of George F. Arigho; Harry Lauder`s `Roaming in the Gloaming Walking Stick`, the twisted briar with white metal collar, inscribed: `Presented to My Old Friend G.F. Arigho from Sir Harry Lauder September 1938-The original stick used by me in Roaming in the Gloaming` , 94cm long; George Arigho was a life-long friend of Sir Harry Lauder and attended every show the artist performed in Dublin. Lauder made frequent visits to the Arigho`s family home at `Albert House` in Ballsbridge, Dublin, where they would reminisce, swap yarns and ideas for songs and lyrics. Arigho`s son Jack was a famous rugby player in the 1930s and was capped 16 times for Ireland. This Lot sells together with a framed portrait photograph of Sir Harry, inscribed in his own hand: `To my friend George Arigho, always sincerely as ever, Harry Lauder March 1935`, 31 x 24cm; Also a letter on Lauder Ha notepaper from Arigho to a relative mentioning `...I got a great stick from Harry..All the Lauders are very nice charming people...`

CRICKET. THE SILVER CIGARETTE CASE AND ASHTRAY OF JOHN GUNN the former engraved COUNTY CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP 1907. CHAMPION COUNTY NOTTS. PRESENTED TO J GUNN BY SIR FRANCIS LEY, BART. PRESIDENT NOTTS C.C.C., the ashtray engraved with the cricketer`s monogram, by Walker & Hall Ltd and A & J Zimmerman Ltd, Sheffield 1907 and Birmingham 1927 respectively, a portrait miniature of John Gunn, watercolour, 10 x 7cm, signed with initials PRT and a varnished cut-out photograph backed on wood, cigarette case 3ozs (4) Provenance: John Gunn and by descent to the present vendor. John Richmond Gunn (1876-1963) was born at Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. One of the great names of English cricket of the Edwardian era. He played in six Tests from 1901-1905. Making his debut for Nottinghamshire in 1896 he was soon recognised as an extraordinary bowler, being named Wisden`s Cricketer of the Year in 1904. A member of that most celebrated of Nottinghamshire cricketing families, he was the nephew of William Gunn (1858-1921), elder brother of George Gunn (1879-1959) and uncle of George Vernon Gunn (1905-1957). ++Cigarette case in good condition with a few minor dents etc but no repairs, the engraving free from significant wear etc, the ashtray of slightly worn appearance. The miniature in good condition, the varnish on the cut out photograph rather darkened with time
