James Leakey, circa 1798, a portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, gentleman wearing a red jacket and white waistcoat with shirt, with hair "En Queue", the reverse glazed to reveal label from the Bernard Franck Collection. Portrait 35 mm x 45 mm, in gilt frame with watch top (see illustration).
Philip Jean (1755-1802) attributed, an oval portrait miniature, gentleman in brown coat with white waistcoat and cravat, with gold coloured frame, the reverse with hair work within a blue glass border, circa 1790. 55 mm x 67 mm (see illustration). NOTE-Philip Jean was born in Jersey and served in the Navy as a boy before taking up painting. He exhibited at the RA 1787-1802. His son Roger was also a miniaturist.
A George III pastel portrait, on panel, "William Tolfroy", circa 1793, oval. 9.5 ins x 7.25 ins, in Georgian carved frame (see illustration). NOTE-this is a portrait of William Tolfroy, a young man who sailed to Ceylon in the "Houghton" to join the Ceylon Civil Service aged 15. He became a Senior Administrator later in life. The pastel has a lengthy inked description verso detailing this history.
H. Fradelle 19th century French School, a pair of oil paintings on panel, "Portrait of D`Aguesseau" from the original by Mignard, Paris 1832 and "Portrait of La Place" from the original by J.C. Naigeon in the possession of the Marchioness de La Place in Paris 1832. Each 7.5 ins x 6 ins, framed, with inked inscription verso and stamp for "Boucarut Peintre Et Doreur, Paris" (see illustration).
Clement Burlison (1815-1899 British), an oil painting on canvas, portrait of Richard Hetherington Esq. President of The Virgin Islands". 29 ins x 24 ins, in ornate giltwood frame, bearing various labels verso. "Richard Hetherington Esq. President of The Virgin Islands and of The Hill Burton in Lonsdale, Yorkshire. Born 1740 died 1821". "The original of the picture is in the possession of his grandson Charles Richard Robinson Esq. J.P of Brettonby Manor, Yorkshire". "The original is now at Great Chesterfield House, Great Chesterfield, Essex and belongs to Mrs G.G. grand-daughters the Misses E.M.S. and L.P. Robinson of Hinxton and is believed by them to be by Romney 30th January 1953". The portrait is inscribed itself "A copy by C. Burlison 1872 from a portrait by Parkinson 1761 (see illustration).

A 19th century oil painting on canvas, portrait of George Wright 1822-1897, "Only Son of John Wright of Nottingham and Doncaster and Grandson of Thomas Wright of Bingham, Notts by Hannah Daughter of Thomas Rotherham of Nottingham. He married Mary Daughter of Joseph Stafford of Glossop , Derbyshire. Their only son James born 26th June 1853 married on 25th October 1880 Mary Annie daughter of Daniel and Anne Woodhead and died 14th August 1906", in simulated maple frame (see illustration).
1923 Gordon Richards Champion Flat Race Jockey signed photograph and book -comprising a original larger full length portrait jockey photograph in the original period mount signed to the border "Yours sincerely Gordon Richards 1923" -mf&g overall 19.5 x 10.5" together with signed copy of his autobiography titled "My Story" signed to the title page with dedication and dated 1955 (2). Gordon Richards rode 4,870 winners and is still a British Record. He also holds the record for the most consecutive winners ridden; 12 (half at a night meeting) and he was British flat racing Champion Jockey a record 26 times and the only jockey to be knighted.
