STEVE MCCURRY (AMERICAN b. 1950), SHARBAT GULA, AFGHAN GIRL, PAKISTAN offset lithographic colour print, signed lower right in pen 54cm x 38cm Mounted, framed and under glass.Note: Steve McCurry took his most recognized portrait, ''Afghan Girl'', in a refugee camp near Peshawar, Pakistan in 1984. The image itself was named as ''the most recognized photograph'' in the history of the National Geographic magazine and her face became famous as the cover photograph on the June 1985 issue. The photo has also been widely used on Amnesty International brochures, posters, and calendars. The identity of the ''Afghan Girl'' remained unknown for over 17 years until McCurry and a National Geographic team located the woman, Sharbat Gula, in 2002.

An 18th century portrait miniature of a seated gentleman in a red velvet suit beside his desk, wearing a white wig, reputedly of Justin Vulliamy (1712-1797) English clockmaker, oil on board, in a gilt composition frame, moulded with lyre and anthemion motifs, 14 by 10cm, framed size 25 by 21cm. Provenance: by direct descent from the sitter.

Vols 1 - 5 ( Complete ). 8vo. Hb. Full panelled calf with, ribbed spines with maroon & olive labels, gilt. Vol. 1 has frontispiece portrait of Pepys & a fold-out illustration of Pepys handwriting and code for his diary. Vol. 2 has frontispiece portrait of Elizabeth Pepys. Volume 3 has fold-out frontispiece view 'View of the Interior of Mr. Pepys Library in York Buildings.' Volume 5 has a fold-out map of 'scheme of the Dutch fleet'. CONDITION REPORT: Bindings have been professionally re-backed and are a little worn and rubbed at the ext. but sound. Some minor sporadic foxing.

Family register and portrait gallery unused. Fine chromolithographic plates. CONDITION REPORT: Very good example. Binding with some wear at the extremities but sound. One plate at the beginning where tissue guard has stuck to the plate in a small area - easily rectified.

In need of a clean and there is also a varnish mark in the bottom left hand quarter. The painting is still housed in the carry crate as it is nailed together. Measures, including frame, approx 140 cm in width x 201 cm in length

§ Reginald Grange Brundrit, RA ROI (British, 1883-1960) Yorkshire landscape oil on board 23 x 34cm (9 x 13in) Reginald Grange Brundrit (1883 – 1960) was born in Liverpool and was educated at Skipton, then Bradford Grammar School. He studied art at Bradford School of Art, before moving to London to study at the Slade School, and privately with the Royal Academician, John Swan, the animal painter. He was predominantly a landscape and portrait painter, who exhibited over 200 paintings between 1906 and 1961 at Royal Academy shows and at international exhibitions in Pittsburgh, Rome, Paris and Venice. His work was highly regarded by his fellow landscape artists, and The Times obituary commented: ” Few painters can have made their reputation with less sensation than Reginald Grange Brundrit.” In 1931 Reginald Brundrit was elected an Associate, then a full member of the Royal Academy in 1938. After his London art education, he adopted Yorkshire as his home and was a member of the Wharfedale Group of local artists; the Wharfe Valley often featured in his paintings and he had a studio at Linton. His work is in the Tate. Condition is fine.
