A late 18th Century Oak cased 8-day Long Case Clock, Read of Aylsham, the hood with a pagoda pediment, to an over hanging cornice and freestanding columns, to an ogee throat and long arched trunk door, raised on a plinth base (plinth with losses), to a 12” first period painted dial, decorated to the arch with an oval head and shoulders portrait of Nelson within a gilt border and further gilt gesso scrolling detail, over spandrels decorated with the Union Jack, Anchors and Cannons, within gilt borders, to a Roman and Arabic chapter ring, enclosing subsidiary seconds and date sector, to a signed false plate movement with plates united by four knopped pillars and anchor escapement, strike on a bell, height 85”
