Provenance: This portrait is traditionally held to be of Mrs Martin, mother of Emily Levinson Martin, who was born 1838. The costume worn by Mrs Martin is circa 1840. Of Italian and Austrian Royal family interest, an exquisite yellow metal, green hide bound Calling Card Case, the button-operated latched hinged lid having the words ``Souvenir, D`amitie`` applied within a border of naturalistic flowers in relief, the main body of the case to one side having an oval portrait miniature 1 1/8`` x 15/16`` of a blue eyed lady in elegant dress and headdress, her necklace bearing the initials ``C.B.``, to the opposite side is a similar oval panel encapsulating a mat of blond hair with the raised intertwined letters ``M.C`` appearing to be elegantly set with 90 tiny old cut Diamonds. 92mm long, 54mm wide and approx. 7mm thick. Accompanying the case is a small piece of card hand written in ink with ``......Carolina Queen of Naples, (Daughter of Maria Teresa Empress of Austria) whose miniature is one side, and her initials in brilliants to the other - to her goddaughter Carolina Swinburne daughter of Henry Swinburne of Hamsterly, Co. Durham Great Aunt of Antonia Cholmeley, - Mrs. W. Conybeare Bruce``.
