Condition Report / Extra Information The largest with significant mould residue all over.Both 'cabinet portraits' are overpainted, with some fading, otherwise good.Miss Larisa (elderly woman) in very good condition.Family group with losses to edges and some crazing in several areas.Edith Taylor aged 3 - daguerreotype, some minor spots to spots, otherwise good.Small oval female portrait on glass - very good.Small oval male portrait on glass - very good.

A Second World War campaign medal group, that of 3709034 Enoch Johns, King's Own Royal (Lancaster) Regiment, including a bullion-embroidered Chindits badge, portrait photograph and mention in despatched notification etc, together with a quantity of facsimile service records and related research documentation. [Platoon Sergeant-Major Johns was wounded in action in the Middle East during July of 1941, his MID was published in the London Gazette in December of that year]
A Gebruder Dingeldein of Hanau white metal and moss agate encased portrait miniature of a Georgian lady, head and shoulder length and depicted with her head turned to one side, wearing a black begere hat with ostrich plume and powdered hair, signed 'Morland', the oval case having agate slices mounted with cast and reticulated silver figural scenes, bearing Hanau pseudo hallmarks including a crowned leopards head, lion passant and dolphin, 6 x 4.5 cm
A pair of early 20th Century uniformly presented head and shoulders portrait miniatures of a young mother and child, the former gazing out of the picture plane, wearing a pearl choker and white lace tea dress with rose corsage, the child having fair curled hair, watercolour on ivory, 5.5 x 4 cm and 4.5 x 3.5 cm
(19th Century) "Blair Athol" Winner of the Derby 1864, sensitive equestrian portrait, the chestnut horse standing in a stable on hay, his cautious gaze holding that of the viewer, oil on canvas, in moulded gilt frame, with pen and ink label verso, 15.5 x 24 cm Blair Athol (1861-1882) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In a racing career that lasted only for the summer and autumn of 1864, he ran seven times and won five races including one walk-over. His wins included The Derby and the St Leger. Despite the brevity of his racing career, he was regarded by contemporary experts as one of the best British racehorses of his era, and arguably the greatest racehorse ever trained in the North of England. He went on to become a highly successful stallion, siring the winners of many future races.
