William Drummond (fl.1800-1850)Portrait of William ArmytageSigned and dated 1849, watercolour, together with a further watercolour by the same hand, Portrait of Godfrey Armytage, signed and dated 1850, 39.5cm by 29cm (2) William (1821-1872) and Godfrey (1825-1908) were the sons of John Armytage and Mary Assheton. William joined the Royal Navy in 1845 being promoted to captain in 1860. He married Jane Hood of London. Godfrey joined the 6th (Royal Warwickshire) Regiment during South Africa's Frontier Wars of 1847-53 and was awarded the South Africa medal. He married Charlotte Emily Blackburn of Cape Town. He was late appointed the Governor of Wakefield House of Correction and for 52 years his wife cared the discharged prisoners.

Another vertical crease eminating from sitters chin and extending to bottom of sheet, approx. 3.5cm. Other smaller creases in evidence elsewhere. Area of damage/abrasion to background approx. 1.5cm from sitter's left ear, running vertically and approx. 5cm in length (see image). Original canvas. Covered in a thick layer of dirt and discoloured varnish. Several areas of paint loss (see images). Medium to widely spaced craquelure throughout, areas of which look precarious and will require prompt intervention. Rubbing, abrasions and damage to edges of the canvas, most notably to the right edge. Areas of bitumen in the paint have split (see images). Visible stretcher shadow. Under UV there has evidently been a course of retouching and infilling to old craquelure throughout the face and hat, and less so in other areas. The restoration process has flattened the paint surface somewhat. Now with some surface dirt and discoloured varnish in evidence. Pronounced stretcher shadow. Medium to widely spaced craquelure throughout, some areas of which look quite precarious and will require prompt intervention. There is already a small loss (approx 0.5cm by 0.5cm) to the upper middle of the picture along the line of the stretcher. Some areas of thin paint. Under UV it is clear there has been a substantial course of retouching and infilling to old craquelure throughout and stretcher shadow. A fine 19th century gilt-metal and porcelain mounted eight-day mantle clock: the floral surmount above a white enamel dial with Roman numeral and signed 'Vieyres & Repingon a Paris', two cherubic figures below the enamel dial flanked by oval vertical porcelain vignettes of female figures, the movement striking on a bell, raised on cast feet (35.5 cm high)Condition Report: The white enamel dial appears to be in good condition. Very small chip around the right-hand 4 o'clock position. Both left and right oval portrait vignettes in good condition. Very dusty and dirty overall. Gilding is quite dark and it is possible that the back of the clock would have had a glass or metal covering (now missing) there are redundant screw holes halfway left & right. Individually numbered lower right position and same number on the original pendulum.

Den linken Arm stützt sie auf ein Kissen am erhöhten Kopfende des Möbels, in der rechten Hand hält sie ein geöffnetes Buch. Die Mätresse Ludwig XV. trägt ein prächtiges, blaufarbenes, mit Rosen und Schleifen besetztes Kleid. Ihre unbedeckten Handgelenke offenbaren kostbare Perlenarmreife. Am rechten, vorderen Bildrand, auf einem "table à écrire" liegender Brief mit Siegel, die geöffnete Schublade mit sichtbarer Schreibfeder. Nach dem 1756 als Auftragsarbeit von Ludwig XV. entstandenen Gemälde von François Boucher, heute in der "Alten Pinakothek" in München. Äußerst feine, polychrome Malerei mit Weißhöhungen. Um die Hubertusszene gravierte Geschenkinschrift "Meinem geliebten Hermann allzeit Waidmannsheil von seiner Carin, Innsbruck den 12. Januar 1924". Silberstempel. Durchmesser 60 mm. Dazu silberne Chatelaine mit anhängendem gestochenen Petschaft und aufklappbarem Medaillon mit Portrait Carins und Edelweiß, außenseitig gravierte Inschrift "dem lieben Hermann ein Gruß aus den Bergen - Carin". In alter Doppel-Uhrenschatulle mit goldener und silbervergoldeter jagdlicher Anstecknadel. Dazu die schwere silberne Uhrenkette mit Turmalinen und Rubinen. Nach dem gescheiterten Marsch auf die Feldherrnhalle am 9. November 1923 flieht Hermann Göring schwer verletzt mit seiner Frau zunächst nach Österreich. Also comes with the heavy silver watch chain with green tourmalines and rubies. GFM Erwin Rommel - eigenhändig signierte Portraitpostkarte Halbportrait in Tropenuniform mit reichem Ordensschmuck und Tropenhelm, am Unterrand bezeichnet "PK-Berndt-Atlantic" und "Generalfeldmarschall Rommel - Träger des Eichenlaubs mit Schwertern zum Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes". Eigenhändige Tintenunterschrift "E. Rommel". Ungelaufen, rs. Fotoecken.Rommel erhielt am 20.1.42 die Schwerter zum Eichenlaub und wurde im Juni 1942 zum Generalfeldmarschall ernannt.
