(1)* The author was born in Co. Kilkenny in 1872, and was educated in Mooncoin and Kilmacow. He subsequently emigrated to Canada and studied for the priesthood. He wrote for numerous Irish and Irish American Journals under the pseudo name "Slievenamon".
