CONDITION REPORT: Provenance: Gifted to the vendor's grandmother by her employer at the Stone Gallery in Newcastle Upon Tyne, where Norman Cornish exhibited. The picture appears to be in excellent condition with no areas of foxing, fading etc. The brown paper is not laid down perfectly flat and is lifting slightly in some areas.

Attributed to Peter Paillou (1757-1832) - Miniature shoulder length portrait of Eliza Stirling, her hair in ringlets wearing a black dress with white puff sleeves, on ivory, in gilt metal oval frame with chased foliate frame and glazed, the reverse with aperture revealing plaited hair, 2.5ins x 1.625ins overall Note: Eliza is recorded as residing in Rothesay and afterwards Stirling in Scotland. She was the sister-in-law of John Montgomery of Trinidad. Her name appears on a list of people who had an address in Scotland and were awarded compensation for slaves they owned.
