A 4pp ALS from Leonard Wyon at the Royal Mint, 28 April [18]48, to an un-named recipient [presumably at the Royal Academy], concerning Wyon’s portrait of William Wordsworth and his medal of the same subject (BHM 2305; E 1428). Fine £60-£80 --- Refers to items 686 and 1316 in the revised version of the Royal Academy’s 1848 exhibition catalogue. The letter reads: “Dear Sir, I have just seen a Catalogue of the Exhibition and find that a drawing of mine, No. 686, is described as ‘A medal of William Wordsworth Esqre the Poet’, instead of ‘Portrait of William Wordsworth Esqre the Poet’. And to No. 1316 I append a small quotation, ‘Friend of the wise and teacher of the good’, Coleridge; this has been omitted. If you will do me the great favour of having these mistakes, especially the first, rectified in the next edition, you will much oblige, dear sir, yours faithfully, Leonard Wyon”
