A German Occupation oil painting - Guernsey Channel Islands interest, oil on board, depicting a Guernsey coastal scene, possibly the Grande Rocques sand dunes, signed lower left, the reverse depicting a black & white photo half-portrait print of 'Admiral Karl Dönitz', 14¼ x 18¾in. (36 x 47.4cm.).* Admiral Karl Dönitz, commander of the German fleet and then successor to Adolf Hitler as President of the German Reich, in office 30 April 1945-23 May 1945, nickname: Der Löwe (The Lion).** Condition: Corner edge wear, would benefit from a light clean. Reverse photo print with paper contact marks & scratches throughout.
A Sevres style hard paste porcelain coffee can, 19th century, decorated with a portrait of a beauty in a shaped reserve with gilt foliate and rocaille border, gilt C-scroll handle, blue painted interlaced Ls mark with 'x' inside and 'B..' below, 6.2cm. high; together with a Berlin porcelain egg shaped vase and cover, painted with opposing views of courting couples in gardens and floral sprays, within gilt foliate scroll frames against a black ground, the cover with gilt flame finial (restored), raised on three pierced foliate scroll legs, underglaze blue sceptre marks to base, 5¼in. (13.5cm.) high; a German blue ground cabinet cut and saucer, blue painted beehive mark, decorated with classical figures after Kauffmann, with bifurcated branch handle and three gilt feet, one a/f; and an early 19th century Spode twin handled sucrier and cover, with Imari Dollar decoration, 4½in. (11.5cm.) high. (4)
A pair of Continental porcelain twin handled portrait vases, late 19th century, impressed factory marks and numerals plus script numerals in black to base, the tapered ovoid bodies below waisted necks and cup form rims, decorated with hand painted portraits of beauties within gilded foliate borders on a jade-green ground, 10¼in. (26cm.) high. (2)* Condition: One vase has a small chip of glaze from the neck rim (re-gilded) below which is a hair crack approximately 1½in. (3.75 cm.) long.
