General Otto Maximilian Hitzfeld KC OL S signed 4 x 3 b/w portrait photo. 7 May 1898 - 6 December 1990 was a German officer during both World War I and World War II. Hitzfeld was promoted to Major on 1 April 1936 and returned to the Kriegsschule in Dresden where he taught tactics and military history. He became the aide of the commander of the Kriegsschule on 10 November 1938. He was promoted to Oberstleutnant on 1 August 1939 and became the commander of the 3rd Battalion of 158th Infantry Regiment (III./Infanterie-Regiment 158). With this battalion he participated in the Battle of France. He received command of 593rd Infantry Regiment (Infanterie-Regiment 593) on 15 November 1940 and received both clasps of the Iron Cross by the end of August 1941. Hitzfeld transferred again in July 1941, this time taking command of the 213th Infantry Regiment (Infanterie-Regiment 213), which he commanded for a year on the Eastern Front. He distinguished himself in the battles near Perekop and the battles on the Crimea for which he received the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross on 30 October 1941. He was promoted to Oberst on 1 January 1942 and shortly afterwards received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves on 17 January 1942. Wounded for the fifth time on 15 August 1942 near Krasnodar, he received the Wound Badge in Gold by the end of the war. After a period of convalescence, he was given the command of the 102. Infanterie-Division. Hitzfeld, whose nephew Ottmar Hitzfeld was a highly successful football manager in Europe, was promoted to Generalmajor on 1 April 1943 and officially put in command of the 102. Infanterie-Division. He was promoted to Generalleutnant early November 1943 and had to turn over command of the Division. He then took command of the infantry school in Döberitz and again turned over command on 1 November 1944. Hitzfeld was given command of the LXVII. Armeekorps, which he led in the Battle of the Bulge. He was promoted to General der Infanterie on 1 March 1945 and made commanding general of the LXVII. Armeekorps. He shortly became commander of the 11. Armee in April 1945. He declared Göttingen, which was crowded with refugees, as a free city. He was taken prisoner of war by American forces on 19 April 1945 from which he was released on 12 May 1947. He received news that he had been awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords after his release from captivity. Scarce autograph. Good condition Est. £20 - 30
Josef Kammhuber signed 6 x 4 b/w portrait photo. August 19, 1896 - January 25, 1986 was a career officer in the Luftwaffe and post-World War II German Air Force, and is best known as the first general of night fighters in the Luftwaffe during World War II. He is credited with setting up the first truly successful night fighter defence system, the so-called Kammhuber Line, but a detailed knowledge of the system provided to the Royal Air Force by British military intelligence allowed them to render it ineffective. Personal battles between himself and Erhard Milch, director of the Reich Air Ministry, eventually led to his dismissal in 1943. After the war, he returned to the military sphere in Germany's Federal Defence Force. Scarce autograph. Good condition Est. £20 - 30
Gen Alfred Müller KC OL signed 6 x 4 b/w portrait photo. 23 November 1915 - 2 July 1997 was a highly decorated Oberst in the Wehrmacht during World War II. Knight's Cross on 20 February 1943 as Hauptmann and commander of Sturmgeschütz-Batterie 901. 354th Oak Leaves on 15 December 1943 as Hauptmann and commander of Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung 191. Captured by American troops in May 1945. In 1956 he joined the Bundeswehr and served until 1979 retiring as a Brigadegeneral. Scarce autograph. Good condition Est. £20 - 30
Friedrich Kemnade KC signed 6x4 black and white portrait photograph. Lieutenant Commander Friedrich Kemnade was one of only eight naval officers to be awarded the E-boat War Badge with Diamonds, a personal award from the commander of the German Navy to particularly successful commanders of E-boats who were having an increasing effect on patrolling the English Channel. After WWII, Kemnade was an officer of the Germany Navy, being promoted to Admiral in 1964. Rare Good condition Est. £20 - 30
Karl Ullrich KC OL signed 6 x 4 b/w portrait photo. 1 December 1910 - 8 May 1996 was an Oberführer (Senior Colonel) in the Waffen-SS. He was awarded the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd class for bravery during the Battle of France, then transferred to the Totenkopf on the Eastern Front in 1941. He was awarded the Knight's Cross for his leadership and bravery during the battles of the Demyansk pocket in February 1942 and in October 1944 was given command of the 6th SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment Theodor Eicke and was awarded the Oakleaves while in command. Promoted to Standartenführer (Colonel) he was given command of the 5th SS Panzer Division Wiking for the final battles of the war in Hungary. A short time before the end of the war he was promoted to Oberführer and he surrendered to the Russians in May 1945. Rare Good condition Est. £20 - 30
