Two WWII period RAF logbooks for Flight Lieutenant William Geoffrey Allen White 124262, 206th Squadron Coastal Command:, dating from 26th July 1940 to May 1945, together with related paperwork and ephemera, including newspaper cuttings of the sinking of a German minesweeper off the coast of Brest 11th July 1941, together with a portrait of W G A White dated 1946, a pair of flying goggles, identity discs and a section of shrapnel.

Circle of George Engleheart (1750-1829)19th century miniature portrait on ivorySir Barrington Reynolds, Admiral of the Blue, gaining post of Rear Admiral in 1848, Sir Barrington was given command of Cape Good Hope Station with instructions to clamp down on illegal slave trading in West Africa and later was dispatched to Brazil where his squadron boarded and captured various slave ships and that his command has been credited with destroying the Brazilian slave trade by 1851, promoted to Vice Admiral 1855 he became commander and chief in Plymouth in 1857 and was promoted to Admiral on his retirement in 1860, inscribed verso, 8.5cm x 6.5cm

Mayor of Exeter; by Anne, youngest daughter of the Honble Revd Charles Bertie, Rector of Kenn-Devon in October 1780 A:W. was married to the Revd William Woollcombe of Oriel Col; Oxford, ? Rector of East Worlington, Devon, Prebendary of EX: Cathedral, she died in child bed Febry 22, 1790 ??? five sons and daughters. He in April, 1796. Both buried at East Worlington – he left one daughter by a second wife by name Frances Eleanor now Mrs J Bingham of ?? Dorset’, 11cm x 9cm

Rev ... Bertie”, lower right corner, all in carved and openwork rococo giltwood frame, 141cm x 231cm (some damage to canvas) (Provenance – believed by the present owner to be from Powderham Castle, home of the Courtenay family)
