Lucy Peck poured wax portrait shoulder head doll, English circa 1900, the slightly turned head with blue glass eyes, painted mouth and inserted long blonde hair and eyebrows, on a cloth body with shaped wax lower arms, and legs, wearing original green patterned dress, undergarments and a straw bonnet, damage and loss to shoulder plate, 23” (58.5cm) tall, together with a wax over girl in traditional Galway costume and holding a basket and two early bees wax dolls, A/F, (4 items).

FRED KORMIS [1897-1986]. The CAIRD art medal [Sir James Caird]. 1984. bronze relief. Signed, 14 cm high. The Caird medal sculpture is presented once a year [from 1984 onwards] to the distinguished person giving the Caird lecture at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich and as such are extremely rare. Sir James Caird was one of the most important patrons of the museum and the library is named after him. Kormis sculpted many portraits, several of which are in the National Portrait Gallery and British Museum – he was also a fine figurative sculptor, particularly his prisoner of war memorials. EXTREMELY RARE. [good condition].

Kormis sculpted many portraits of famous people, including royalty, and his reliefs are included in the National Portrait Gallery and British Museum collections. He was also a fine figurative sculptor, particularly well known for his superb prisoner of war memorials. EXTREMELY RARE [only 8 cast]. [good condition].

MICHAEL AYRTON [1921-75]. Dylan Thomas [Dawn at Gravesend], 1947. Pencil. Signed, dated and titled, 35 x 25 cm. Provenance: private collection, USA; private collection, UK. Thomas and Ayrton were great drinking companions at this time and this was drawn during one of their sessions in Essex. Only 3 or 4 drawings of Dylan Thomas by Ayrton exist – the National Portrait Gallery has one. [good condition – slight change in colour at edges where previously mounted].
