MARY E. SANDERSON "Mrs. Boulteel as a child", portrait study of a child in classical style, with duck and ducklings in a romantic landscape, oil on canvas, apparently unsigned, inscribed verso "Copied from the original of Mrs. Boulteel by Northcote in the possession of Colonel Harris by Mary E. Sanderson afterwards North ? April 1850", 128 x 102 cm
Belphoebe, after W Wyon, unknown factory, circa 1870, the scantily clad classical maiden looking downwards with encrusted flowers in her hair, by a tree stump, upon a rounded rectangular plinth, impressed title and "W WYON", 38.5cm high Edward William Wyon (1811-1885), son of Thomas Wyon. Edward Wyon joined the RA Schools in 1829 on the advice of E H Baily. Specialised in portrait busts but also produced a series of models depicting characters from Shakespeare and other literary sources, a number of which were designed exclusively for production in parian.
A Standing Figure of Johann Wolfgang Goethe (1749-1832), after Emmanuel Auguste Hermann Knaur, unknown factory, dated 1850, standing full length leaning on a tree stump, placing his right hand inside his waistcoat, wearing a long coat and boots, a book in his left hand, on a chamfered square base, titled, incised "H Knaur Sec 1850", 47.3cm high Emanuel Auguste Hermann Knaur (1811-1872) was born at Leipzig. He specialised in portrait busts, reliefs and statuettes of comtemporaries and allegorical works. His greatest masterpiece was Faust.
A burr walnut Cigar and Cigarette box, inset owner's portrait Mr W G Stevens of Compton near East Ilsley and four named jockeys in miniature; G Chaloner, J Watts, M Cannon and J Loates, Mr W G Stevens was a very successful trainer and well respected member of the East Ilsley community, a detailed commentary of his funeral was noted in the local papers at the time
Erich Wolfseld (1884-1956), 'Portrait of Sir William Goscomb John', oil on board, signed, unframed, 24 cm x 18 cm This portrait of sculptor Sir William Goscomb John (1860-1952) is comparable to Wolfseld's portrait painted circa 1944 in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery, London (no. NPG5102).
