His arch rivalry with prime minister William Pitt the Younger is also well recorded.George Leader is recorded as a wax modeller with a workshop at 188 Oxford Street, London. He is said to have exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1792-1804. He may be related to P. H. Leader, also a wax modeller. A relief by the latter sculptor, also executed in boxwood, is in the collection of the V&A, London, accession number A.24-1939.Condition Report: The bust bears the usual minor marks commensurate with age, and the boxwood has naturally patinated to include lighter and darker areas.there is an old split running down the left shoulder (circa 2-3cm long), and another, shorter, to the lowermost edge of the socle. There are more shallow surface scratches to the rear of the socle, one possibly a hairline crack. There is a small, old chip to the rear drapery. Overall this bust is in perfectly presentable condition.Condition Report Disclaimer

An Italian patinated bronze portrait bust of Julius Caesar, after the Antique, later 19th century, possibly Chiurazzi, Naples, portrayed truncated and facing forwards, on an integral waisted circular socle, 55cm high, 25cm wideThis bust is likely derived from the Roman Chiaramonti Portrait bust (in the Vatican Museums), which is one of only two accepted portrait busts of Caesar. The bust represents a grave and idealised leader, and may have been created posthumously during the reign of Augustus in the 1st century BC, when Caesar was widely admired.
