Opening a shop in Frith Street London then moving to Piccadilly in 1875. Er modelliert die Züge in einem deutlichen Helldunkelkontrast und einem sensiblen, expressiven Strich, der in der variierenden Stärke wunderbar differenziert und im Duktus ebenso elegant wie energisch ist. In verschiedenen Winkeln treffen Bündel und Felder von geraden und geschwungenen, meist schräg nach rechts oben laufenden Parallelschraffuren aufeinander, so dass ein Bildnis von ausdrucksvoller Plastizität entsteht. Die darunterliegende Vorzeichnung verdeutlicht Meidners überlegte Bildanlage. Pankok" . Städt. Kunstmuseum Bonn 1972, 222. Orlik kannte Einstein aus Berlin und ließ sich für die Radierung Porträtfotografien aus Amerika schicken. Einstein gehörte neben Peter Behrens, Marc Chagall, Arnold Schönberg und Franz Werfel zu den einflussreichen Mitgliedern im Kuratorium des Bauhaus-Freundeskreises. Zudem schuf Picasso Linolschnitte und bemalte Keramikplatten zu demselben Motiv. Die Werkreihe, in der der Künstler immer wieder seine Lithographien mit Pastell überarbeitete und zu neuen Varianten weiterentwickelte, wurde auch als "Ateliergeheimnisse von Degas" bezeichnet, der ebenso wie Picasso seine illustrativen Monotypien mit Pastell ergänzte. Güse/Rau notieren eine Auflage von 50 numerierten und signierten Exemplaren, dazu außerhalb dieser Auflage einige Abzüge für den Künstler. Wide-ranging accumulation in 4 cartons, with many 1000s of stamps on and off paper, the better sort of mixture from 19th century onwards, a box of PHQ cards in sets, accessories including boxed Davo albums and Schaubek pages for Baltic countries, etc. The best however is the large carton of excellent ephemera, including vintage postcard album filled with artistic/comic cards on the theme of children, many further loose cards incl. silks etc, continental souvenir booklet sets, KGV family portrait triptych of photos, early book of 56 views of Pompei, albums of pressed flowers and cigarette cards, King Edward VIII photographic portrait Masonic certificate and framed embroidery portrait, etc. This is the very interesting balance of the large estate that incorporated the 73 volume Commonwealth collection in this sale.

He was also the father of Richard (Dickie) Attwood, Grand Prix competitor and winner of the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans race, driving the Porsche 917. Harry’s archive comprises his pre WWII BRDC member’s badge, which would have adorned his Supercharged MG, official Brooklands race cards, telegraphs of good wishes at Brooklands, British Racing Driver’s Club correspondence, insurance waiver, entry brochure with regulations for the 1933 Tourist Trophy Meeting, Ards, numerous press cuttings, an original pen and ink drawing by Roth, of The London Evening News featuring a portrait of Harry and an MGA Roadster (framed), another similar of MG interest (framed), and a silver trophy cup with the ACE Motor Club Coventry enamel insignia, awarded to Harry for the Copsall Speed Trials, July 9th 1927
