A 19th century oval portrait miniature painted on ivory, unsigned, depicting a gentleman dressed in a military jacket, inscribed verso Sir H. Floyd, Cornet of the VIII Light Dragoons, About the year 1808, Done at Cork, 3 x 2in (7.5 x 5cm). * The Connaught Journal, published in Galway, May 27th 1824, mentions that a Sir H.Floyd from the 8th Regiment of Light Dragoons was promoted. It is known that he was awarded the rank of Major General in his last promotion.
