SCIENCE FICTION: A printed 4to official souvenir brochure for Seacon ’79, the 37th World Science Fiction Convention at the Metropole Hotel in Brighton, 23rd – 27th August 1979, individually signed by over twenty Science Fiction writers, actors and others present at the convention, including Brian Aldiss (British Guest of Honour; also signed to an inside portrait page to which he has added a small moustache), Arthur C. Clarke, Douglas Adams, Robert Sheckley, Forrest Ackerman, Theodore Sturgeon, Poul Anderson, Raymond Gallun, L. Sprague de Camp, Bob Shaw, Larry Niven (minor water stain only slightly affecting the signature), Roger Dean, Hal Clement, Alan Dean Foster, Ben Bova, Jerry Pournelle, Frank Hampson, Tom Baker, Christopher Reeve, Gary Kurtz, Fritz Leiber (to an inside portrait page) etc. Most of the signatures appear in blue or black inks to the title page. EDWARD VIII: (1894-1972) King of the United Kingdom January - December 1936. Later Duke of Windsor. Signed First Day Cover by the Duke of Windsor, commemorating Great Britain and featuring a colour illustration of Windsor Castle and with eight postage stamps affixed, each featuring the former King's portrait. Signed ('Edward, Duke of Windsor') in bold, dark fountain pen ink to a clear area of the cover. Matted in black beneath a large reproduction image of the King and above a second, unsigned, commemorative cover featuring an image of the King and brief printed text, postmarked at Windsor, 5th June 1972. Framed and glazed in a modern wooden frame to an overall size of 14.5 x 26.5. VG
ALI MUHAMMAD: (1942-2016) American Boxer, World Heavyweight Champion. A slim 8vo folding pamphlet entitled Introducing Islam published by the Institute of Islamic Information and Education of Chicago, Illinois, signed by Ali in bold blue ink to a clear area of the front cover and dated in his hand. With a small clipped colour magazine portrait of the boxer neatly affixed to the cover. VG
HEDREN TIPPI: (1930- ) American Actress. Vintage signed and inscribed 9.5 x 7.5 photograph of Hedren in a head and shoulders pose with a large black crow perched on one of her folded arms in a publicity portrait for Alfred Hitchcock's horror-thriller film The Birds (1963). Signed by Hedren in blue fountain pen ink across a clear area at the base of the image. VG
HARRY DEBBIE: (1945- ) American Singer & Songwriter with the band Blondie. Signed album record sleeve for Rockbird (1986), being the United Kingdom release by Chrysalis Records of Harry's second solo album. Signed in bold black ink to the front cover of the sleeve featuring Harry's portrait. Record still present. VG
Early Twentieth Century School : Portrait of a Three-Masted Sailing Ship Moored in a Bay, watercolour with bodycolour, signed with unidentified monogram, 22 cm x 28 cm, together with another watercolour drawing by J. Hodgson Campbell depicting a highland loch scene, a watercolour depicting fishermen unloading the day's catch, a watercolour depicting a young girl standing in an open rural landscape, a hand coloured topographical engraving depicting Dilson Hall, Northumberland and two maps showing Northumberland and Durham, all parts unframed. A heavily carved oak wall plaque or crest, a relief female portrait within scrolls and eagle heads CONDITION REPORT: 18th century. This measures 80cm by 71cm by 14cm. Faded and weathered throughout. Loss beneath head of right eagle. Small replaced section of oak behind the head of the left eagle. One small metal hoop screwed into the back, with vacant holes for others which are now missing. A bronzed metalwork statue of an angel on a stone base, supporting itself with outstretched arms, length 12cm, together with a miniature portrait picture of a child in ebonised frame with acorn hook, 12.5cm x 10cm together with an interesting stoneware figure clasping a circular halo type shape around his head, with enigmatic facial expression and roughly carved androgynous body 13cm (3) the figure appears to have some historic repairs
Jerry L Ross signed 10x8 colour NASA portrait photo. retired United States Air Force officer and a former NASA astronaut. He is a veteran of seven Space Shuttle missions, making him the joint record holder for most spaceflights (a record he shares with Franklin Chang-Diaz). His papers, photographs and many personal items are in the Barron Hilton Flight and Space Exploration Archives at Purdue University.
