A London Delftware Queen Anne charger, circa 1702-14Possibly Norfolk House, painted with a full length portrait of the Queen, holding the orb and sceptre, inscribed 'AR', flanked by sponged trees and standing on a turquoise ground with simply painted vegetation, edged with blue and yellow concentric lines and a blue dash border, with a lead-glazed back 34.8cm diamFootnotes:A similar charger was sold by Bonhams on 8 September 2004, lot 51, with minor differences including the orb and sceptre being held in different hands. The current lot is most like two chargers illustrated by Leslie B Grigsby, The Longridge Collection (2000), p.67, D33 and by Michael Archer, Delftware in the Fitzwilliam Museum (2013), p.13, A.15. The suggested attribution to Norfolk House is based on a fragment with a similar distinctive setting excavated by Garner in Lambeth. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
