The list of contents lists 7 tracts, this includes an eighth 'Some Rules and Orders for the Government of the House of an Earle', which is added to the list in manuscript. 250 copies were printed of each tract and it was intended to be a multi-volume work but no further volumes were published.

Kent.- Kilburne (Richard) A Topographie or Survey of the County of Kent, first edition, engraved frontispiece portrait (trimmed to border and laid down), woodcut head-pieces and initials, numerous contemporary ink annotations, cropped but some leaves with margins folded in to preserve marginalia (some a little frayed at edges), that on N2 torn away just touching edge of text, title lightly soiled, old sprinkled calf with later blind-stamped border, rubbed, rebacked, [Wing K434], small 4to, by Thomas Mabb, for Henry Atkinson, 1659.

A white metal and pique work remembrancer snuff box, oval, the hinged cover decorated with a double portrait of Charles I, the base cast with a 'map' of Virginia with sailing boats, figures and houses, the sides with panels of trophies of war, a female bust portrait and monogramme beneath crown, 6.5cm max
William Boyd, Publisher's file copy photocopy of School Ties typescript, signed by Boyd with a photograph and self-portrait of Boyd, both also signed [UK, c. 1985] 29 leaves of typescript, first leaf signed by Boyd, together with a single black and white photograph of Boyd, and a pencil drawing entitled self also signed by Boyd, all loosely inserted into plastic wallet, each folio c. 295 by 210 mm.
Medals - World War I & II group, comprising War Medal, Victory Medal (MiD) and 1914-15 Star awarded to 2nd Lieutenant Charles de Vaux Haring 2nd Dragoons, and a 1939-45 War medal (see London Gazette 13 Sept 1940). The recipient, born 1880, joined the Royal Scots Greys in October 1898 and served in South Africa 1903/04. joined the 12th Royal Lancers November 1915, promoted to Captain, November 1917. Mentioned in Dispatches 13th August 1918 for 'Valuable services rendered in connection with the war. The lot includes a black and white portrait photograph of the recipient dated 26th November 1915 and his Officer's Record of Services book. English School (19th Century) - Portrait of a parrot and dog, 59cm x 73.5cm, unsigned, within a birdseye maple frame, the canvas reverse stamped Charles Roberts Longacre London, and with larger stamp : CR 2/38 Condition: At least four repairs visible to the rear of the canvas, fine craquelure to the surface, prominent horizontal crack along the top edge caused by the stretcher.
19th Century English School - Oil on board - Pair of portraits of a lady and gentleman, the reverses inscribed in pencil 'Mrs Henry Emlyn & Mr Henry Emlyn', in ornate carved gilt gesso frames, 22cm x 17cm Condition: The dark areas surrounding the gentleman including his jacket appear to have bituminous elements to the paint causing the usual issues and to a lesser degree to the lower half of the female portrait. The frames in poor condition **General condition consistent with age
17th Century English School - Oil on canvas - Portrait of a scholar, a young man holding a book, perhaps a prayer book, dated lower left 1621 and inscribed 'Deus Providebit' (God will provide), an inscription lower right is no longer legible. He wears the four cornered cap or biretta worn by scholars, the two coats of arms are Eton College (top left) and Emmanuel College, Cambridge (top right), both have been a little misunderstood by the artist, at this time many Puritan clergy were educated at Emmanuel College. A damaged label on the reverse relates to a previous owner and is inscribed: Laurence Pemberton Spa Hotel (Tunbridge Wells?), in a gilt gesso frame, 64cm x 49.5cm Condition: Probably re-lined a long time ago, the obvious area of issue are the nose and the lips of the sitter, the overall surface is some-what dry with fine craquelure, we would recommend viewing this lot in person. **General condition consistent with age
Pair of late 18th/early 19th Century portrait miniatures, a lady in a cap holding pink roses, and a gentleman in red jacket holding a letter, behind him are two books on a shelf initialled C.B, and D.B., 90mm x 68mm, both in rectangular papier-mâché frames having acorn loop bale Condition: There is some damage/wear to the gentleman's upper sleeve and shoulder, there could be the remnants of a signature around this area but it is all but impossible to tell, both papier-mâché frames have two witness marks just below the top where a further fixing may have once been. **General condition consistent with age
