Follower of Jens Juel Self portrait of the artist and his wife Rosine Doschel both seated at an easel oil on board unframed 54 by 42.3 cm.; 21.25 by 16.625 in. An early 19th century copy after Juel's original which was painted in 1791 to comemmorate his marriage to Rosine Doschel the daughter of the head gardener at Bernstorff in 1790 (see E. Poulsen Jens Juel Katalog Copenhagen 1991 vol. I pp. 155-6 cat. no. 534 reproduced vol. II fig. 534).
Mario Zanelli Active in Italy during the 18th Century Portrait of Achille Michele Ettore Gloria fourth Duke of Centigloria aged 44 full length in a landscape inscribed upper right: ACHILLE MICHELE / ETTORE GLORIA / IV. duca di Centigloria / cente d'Arca Torre Paradiso / 5. pr. di Gralsano signed lower right : Mario Zanelli pinx. and dated to the upper left: -1751- / det.44 gouache on paper laid down on panel 45 by 36.5 cm.; 17.75 by 14.375 in. The Order appears to have been added later.

A VIENNA STYLE PORTRAIT PLATE Late 19th Century, painted and signed Wagner with a young woman with long dark wavy hair falling over a Holbeinesque and white frilled dress, her face with a wistful expression, all within a blue and grey border, finely gilded with oak and other foliate sprays, blue shield mark and inscribed 'Meditation' on reverse, 24.5cm diameter, with wooden stand (2).

Bernard Buffet, 1928-1999 LA FERME DE NANSE signed and dated 51 oil on canvas 113.6 by 146.2; 44.875. by 57.5in. Painted in 1951. Bernard Buffet came to the attention of the Paris art world in 1946 at the age of eighteen, when his self-portrait was shown at the exhibition Des Moins de Trente Ans at the Galerie des Beaux-Arts. In 1951 the artist's friend Jean Giono, let him a small house in Manosque in Haute-Provence where he lived for a short time before moving to an old 'bergerie' in Nanse, near Reillanne.. This work depicts the farmhouse in the dull grey tonality which typifies Buffet's work at the beginning of the 1950s.. BuffetÕs work of this period exuded a consistently sombre mood which matched the atmosphere of the post-war years. English School (19th century) Portrait of Hortense Eugenie Cecile de Beauharnais Watercolour on ivory (now in two sections) Inscribed and dated Paris 1807 lower right 12.5cm x 11cm within a gilt-metal foliate frame and glazed box, the reverse bearing ink inscription including painted by Bouvier Hortense de Beauharnais (1783-1837), daughter of Alexandre de Beauharnais (1760-94) and Josephine de Beauharnais (1763-1814) [nee Marie Josephe Rose Tascher de la Pagerie]. Her aristocratic father, though he embraced the Republic, was executed during the Terror on trumped up charges for his failure to relieve Metz. Her mother went on to marry Napoleon Bonaparte and as the latter s step-daughter she was persuaded to marry his brother Louis, King of Holland (1806-10), the youngest of their three children becoming Napoleon III.
