Ledger Galleries of Bond Street, with label dated June 1979.Additional InformationCanvas relined, and replacement stretchers, craquelure to the oil throughout which has been varnished over, some wear to the paint where it meets the edge of the frame. The frame lightly grubbed, slight scuffs and gilding touch ups.
18TH CENTURY ENGLISH SCHOOL; three quarter portrait of a lady wearing a white dress with lace trim and pearls, signed J Wood 1742, 127 x 102cm, framed.Additional InformationCanvas relined, craquelure throughout, lightly grubby in parts, 2cm scuff to the fold of the dress to the lower part of the canvas otherwise good. The frame is a later modern copy with light wear.

Additional InformationCracking to the paint and canvas visible to the corner areas and around the dog and the legs of the sitter. There has probably been some restoration to the arm, face and hair of the girl. Frame with general wear.

Additional InformationImage perhaps slightly grubby, but essentially OK. Frame with minor wear. The back of the panel is stained. It is possible that this is 20th century coy of a 19th century work.

Additional InformationThe image lightly grubby with old scuffs and light scratches to the surface and slight wear visible to the edge at the top. The frame with a repair to the mount at the upper section, and other areas of regilding to the surface. The backing to the picture is not original. The painting may have had restoration work some years ago.

He was born in 1708 and lived his adult life in Rochdale. A painter, caricaturist, satirist, a dialect poet and writer who styled himself as the Lancashire Hogarth.The vendor came from that area originally and he was informed by his ancestors that this was Tim Bobbin.

A George IV memorial documentary jug, early 19th century, of hexagonal lobed form, printed to one side with a portrait of the King, to the other with "TO THE MEMORY OF HIS LATE MAJESTY KING GEORGE THE IV BORN AUG. 12 1762. ASCENDED THE THRONE JANY 29 1820; [...] DEPARTED THIS LIFE JUNE 26 1830 AGED 68 YEARS", and under the spout with the Royal cypher, all against a washed pink ground with pink lustre bands to the rim and foot rim, 16.5cm high, with nine further pink lustre jugs and mugs of various sizes to include pearlware examples (10) CONDITION REPORT:The George IV jug shows a chip to the base, some stained crazing to the interior, and wear to the surface throughout including extensive wear to the lustre finish around the rim.The other pieces in the lot show various small chips and losses, surface wear throughout, the odd hairline crack and varying degrees of crazing.
