Paul Desmond Fitzgerald lived and painted overseas from 1949 to 1957 and visited and worked overseas on commissioned portraits twice each year since 1958 including America, England, Scotland, Ireland, Jersey, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Hawaii and Bermuda. In England he undertook various Royal commissions including Queen Elizabeth II 1963 and her Official Royal Jubilee Portrait 1978, HRH Prince Philip 1974 and 1975, HRH Prince Charles. In Italy he painted Pope John XXIII.
