L Mark, portrait of a lady standing beneath a tree, a basket over her shoulder, watercolour, signed, 12" x 9 1/2" and three further pictures by the same artist, all still lives of flowers, together with four books, three by Leonard Mark, including two volumes of Art and Medicine, one of Acromegaly, A Personal Experience, and a further book inscribed to Leonard Mark, belonging to Leonard Mark, 'Old Q' and the Apothecary by H. CIRCLE OF THOMAS GAINSBOROUGH (1727-1788) - Portrait of Thomas Ward of Guilsborough (1717-1778), Recorder at York, knighted in 1761, the subject with white stock and velvet top coat in a formal landscape, oil on canvas, 49" x 39", in carved gilt frame (see illustration). NORTH EUROPEAN SCHOOL, LATE 16/17TH CENTURY - Portrait of a lady wearing a ruff and lace trimmed cap, indistinctly inscribed 'Dem...Tommas...LXXX', oil on panel, 9 3/4" x 8 3/4" in a 17th Century architectural giltwood and gesso frame (see illustration). Provenance: Christie's, London, 7th July 1922, lot 82, from the collection of Ralph Brocklebank (deceased), late of Houghton Hall, Cheshire, sold for £31.10sh; Beasley collection, from Holywell Park, Wrotham, Kent. 10.10.35 according to an old label verso.
GEZA ZORAD (1896-1959) - Two women feeding a goat, signed, oil on board, unframed, 15 3/4" x 19 1/2"; an oval 19th Century portrait of a gentleman, oil on board, 9 3/4" x 8"; L * Lewis - Mountain and lake scene, signed and dated '98, watercolour and gouache, unframed, 10" x 21 1/2" and eleven further unframed works.
A French ivory and gold etui, of tapered rectangular form, set with a portrait miniature of a lady to one side and a classical scene to the other, the hinged lid with pierced mounts 'Souvenir D'Amitie', beaded borders, the interior fitted with a folding ivory aide memoire and a pencil, height 9 cm (3 1/2 in.)
A late 18th/early 19th Century French enamelled gold portrait box, of circular form, the pull-off cover mounted with an oval portrait miniature of a young man in classical dress, signed Kanz, against a blue/grey ground, the floral scroll borders interspersed with white coral beads, maker's mark 'NCD', the flange numbered 114, diameter 6 cm (2 1/4 in.)
