sIR JOSEPH EDGAR BOEHM BT (1834-1890) bRONZE MEDAL OF THOMAS CARLYLE, 1875 stuck to commemorate his 75th birthday obverse: bust left, THOMAS CARLYLE reverse: COMMEMORATION - DECEMBER 4 - 1875 5.6cm diameter literature: L. XXIX, fig. 2. note: Boehm sculpted the bronze statue of Carlyle, erected in 1882, in the Chelsea Embankment Gardens, of which a marble copy is in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. george T. Morgan (1845-1925), who engraved the dies after Boehm's design, was born in Birmingham and worked for many years as a die engraver at Messrs. J.S. & A.B. Wyon. However he moved to America in 1876 and is best known for designing the 'Morgan' silver dollar. He was appointed Chief Engraver of the Philadelphia Mint in 1917.

A vari-coloured paste set long chain, an oval link neckchain on a boltring clasp, a dress Albertine, a pair of imitation pearl earclips, a coral pendant designed as a clenched fist, a faience scarrab pendant and a circular plated brooch, designed as a classical portrait, holding a lyre, signed C. Loudray.
Circle of Willem Wissing, 1656-1687 Portrait of Alice, Countess of Drogheda (1625-c.1696) inscribed with the identity of the sitter oil on canvas 124x99cm.; 48.75x39in. The sitter was the daughter of William Spencer, 2nd Baron Spencer of Wormleighton, and his wife, Penelope, daughter of Henry Wriothesley, Earl of Southampton. She married Henry, Earl of Drogheda. Francois Gall, 1912-1987 PORTRAIT DE FEMME AU MIRROIR signed and inscribed Paris oil on canvas 27 by 22cm.; 10.625 by 8.75in. The authenticity of this work has been confirmed by Marie-Lize Gall and it will be included in the forthcoming Francois Gall Catalogue raisonne being prepared by the Comite Gall.
