Morgan (1845-1925), who engraved the dies after Boehm's design, was born in Birmingham and worked for many years as a die engraver at Messrs. J.S. & A.B. Wyon. However he moved to America in 1876 and is best known for designing the 'Morgan' silver dollar. He was appointed Chief Engraver of the Philadelphia Mint in 1917.
