Bournville Christmas Party, 1907, Cadbury Bros Ltd, official programme, 16pp, 1 plate; Trades Union Congress Parliamentary Committee, together with Delegates who have attended the American Convention, Complimentary Dinner Menus (2), King’s Head Hotel, Sheffield, 16 September 1910, 36pp; Royal Turk’s Head Hotel, Newcastle-on-Tyne, 5 September 1911, 40pp, both incorporating portrait cartoons of the delegates; together with a black ruled notebook into which has been pasted some 200+ cuttings from newspapers, journals, etc, some from the 1780s and 1790s, a further group from the 1880s and 1890s and others from the 1950s and 1960s, relating to coins, stamps, etc, the early submissions contributed by W.J. Davis, with an image of Davis sat his Attwood desk tipped-in, and a modern facsimile copy of Davis” Token Coinage of Warwickshire [5]. Programmes fine, last very fine Images of W.J. Davis from the 1910 and 1911 programmes illustrated on Plate II. One of the cuttings describes “The Lindens”, Trafalgar road, Moseley, which Davis acquired, it is believed, c. 1887-8. “This modern Leasehold Residence contains Dining Room 29 by 14, Nursery, Dressing Room, Bath Room, W.C., and other convenient Rooms. Leasehold for about 76 years. Ground-rent, £20 1s, reduced to £10 0s 6d by an adjoining subletÉThis House is in thorough substantial and decorative repair, and offers a desirable residence, being easy of access by tram or rail.”

LONDON, London Association, 1792, copper, legend above date, rev. named (Henry Woodthorpe), 32mm, 9.84g/12h (D & W 149/369; MG 1063; Mitchiner 5320; Noble II, 902). Good very fine The London Association was said by Mitchiner to be a Home Guard militia. The recipient is thought to be Henry Woodthorpe Sr ( September 1825), clerk to the Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers, 1785-1803. Woodthorpe was elected as London’s town clerk in December 1801 and was succeeded in that post by his son in September 1825. Sold with a photocopy of the portrait of Woodthorpe in the Guildhall Art Gallery.
