A DUKE OF WELLINGTON HAND WRITTEN LETTER DATED 1839. Inscribed “December 2, 1839, The Duke of Wellington presents his compliments to Rv. Blunt and has received his note and returns his thanks for the sermon which he has been so kind as to send him.” Framed and matted with a portrait of the Duke engraved by H.T. Ryall after the Claudet daguerreotype. Overall dimensions 17.25 x 21. 2 inches (44 x 54cm). Together with a pass issued by the Earl Marshall of England for the funeral of Wellington, contained in a period glazed frame. Overall 10 inches x 11.75 inches (26 x 30 cm).

Roosevelt facsimile signature lower right together with a printed calligraphy portrait composed of FDR`s 1933 Inaugural Address by Claude Halbert. The largest 14 inches 18 inches (35.5 x 45.5 cm).

Halls, Chatsworth, Illinois"; a little black girl in wicker chair; a young boy with lamb; two portraits with printed titles "Ira D. Sankey" and "Dwight M. Moody"; a portrait of James Malley and five portraits of distinguished gentlemen, possibly statesmen, with photographer`s backstamps including Gardner, Mendenhall and Tyrell; plus other images. 21 contained in a period leather pocket album, together with a leather cased notebook gilt inscribed "My Trip", circa 1900 with 13 handwritten pages describing a train trip east.
OVER 600 CEDAR FALLS-WATERLOO, IOWA RELATED PHOTOGRAPHS, EARLY TO MID 20TH CENTURY. The majority contained within three albums including 1915-1917 East Waterloo High School Football Team; birds eye view of downtown Waterloo, Cedar Falls Rotary Club; a fine exterior view of an East 4th Street, Waterloo, Iowa millinery store with broadsides in window for Buffalo Bill`s Wild West Show in Waterloo; airport snapshots; and some parade scenes and flood water scenery. Two early cabinet card portrait albums and three snapshot albums including local areas of interest and countrywide family travels and an album with many large scenes with corresponding titles and inscriptions for Cedar River Park; a circle side show with painted banners; golfing; Teddy Roosevelt`s Pullman Car; Waterloo Country Club; Golf Links at Sans Scuci; and Blackhawk I.O.O.F. Lodge interior temple shot.

Six pieces including a photograph of Ella Kate Ewing "The Missouri Giantess" considered to be the world`s tallest woman at the time with Husted Gorin, Missouri photographer`s stamp; a cabinet card of the Horvath Midgets with Barnum and Bailey Circus; a cabinet card of the Mizuno family by Frank Wendt; a photograph of a very obese woman by Charles Sweet, Cincinnati; a portrait of an elderly Native American woman by a Seattle photographer, the verso inscribed "Indian lady who when a small child warned the Whites the Indians were coming to fight them"; and a photograph of Commador Nutt and Miss Minnie Warren together with an albumen portrait of Buffalo Bill with facsimile signature. The largest 6.5 inches x 4.25 inches.
