NO RESERVE Allonby (Edith) The Fulfillment, first edition, half-title, portrait frontispiece, tissue-guard, front free endpaper and half-title becoming loose, cracked hinges, scattered faint spotting, original decorative cloth, sunned spine, bumping to corners and extremities, 8vo, 1905.⁂ Allonby (1875-1905) was a school teacher and fantasy author. Due to the poor sales of her earlier books, Allonby's publisher rejected this title. As a result Allonby committed suicide, aged only 30, leaving a note that read in part, "I have tried in vain ... yet shall The Fulfilment reach the people to whom I appeal, for I have found another way." This act changed the publishers minds, and made this posthumous book a sensation of the time.
