Lucy A Stratten (1865-1954) An oil on canvas, portrait of a gentleman, signed lower right L A Stratten 1890. She exhibited between 1890-1912, including 29 times at The Royal Academy and was a member of the Royal Miniature Society. She lived in Hull and Hessle during 1870's to 1905. 52 x 42cms.Condition ReportSome markings to the painting. Gilt frame in good condition but not original.
An 18ct gold Swivel Seal, set carnelian and bloodstone, carnelian damaged, together with a small early 19thC fob seal, unmarked but tests as 15ct gold, with engraved crest, 2.5cm high, another unmarked of bell shape, the suspension ring damaged, the matrix carved with a male portrait, a very small seal, the carnelian matrix engraved with initials, previous repairs, and a gilt metal seal (5)

The painting has dropped slightly in the slip. Odd scuffs to the outer edges where it has moved in the frame. Areas of fine craquelure/shrinkage in places, especially to the darker paint surrounding his head and to the left of his head and lower left behind his arm. Small loss centre of right-hand side edge and one to the lower left of his jacket. The odd superficial surface scratch. Not examined with a uv light. Chips and knocks to frame.
