ENGLISH SCHOOL, 18th century A half-length portrait study, apparently of the poet John Gay (1685-1732), painted in classical style oval cartouche on a plinth bearing the inscription "John Gay, Poet, 1712", oil on canvas, 14.25" x 12" and the companion portrait of an unidentified gentleman (2).
