Late 19thC School. Portrait of a lady wearing a lace bonnet, oil on canvas, 30cm x 24cm, and various other pictures, to include a 19thC portrait print of a gentleman, an Australian oil signed H Guth, etc. Portraits in this lot possibly relate to the Gibbs family of Tyntesfield, North Somerset.
WWII RAF Ephemera to Flight Sergeant Arthur Alfred Aris 1397340, This lot includes a medal group Burma Star, Defence Star, George VI medal, 1939-45 Star in the original box, flying log book covering the period between 1943 to 1945, watercolour portrait of Flight Sergeant Aris approx 19 x 26.5 cms, 1944 Tee Emm magazine, RAF Flying Clothing Card issued 1942, Service and Release Book, an album of black and white photographs taken of the indigenous population whilst stationed in Northern India, some of the images are titled in white pencil; a poster relating to a social evening held at the Poona Holiday Home April 27th 1945, three shell cases engraved R.H 1942, two bullet casings, four embroidered RAF wings, a RAF jacket with associated badges, belt with associated badges, two cap badges and a brass and enamel lapel pin, a quantity of letters home and a quantity of vintage badges including a vintage US Navy Mess Sergeant arm badge, Nazi Camouflage badge, an Air Gunners Breve, Air Force badge and a US Air Corps enamel badge.
Two 19th Century portrait miniatures, the first entitled 'Duke of Sussex' this title was first conferred on 24th November 1801 upon Prince Augustus Frederick, the sixth son of King George III. His other titles are Baron Arklow and the Earl of Inverness. The miniature depicts him in naval uniform approx 50 x 65 mm together with another portrait miniature of a young woman signed Orlando approx 55 x 70 mm presented in an ebony frame. (2)
