Comprises an example of a young girl in blue dress with brown hair and another of a boy in black jacket and white shirt held within an ebonised square frame with brass oakleaf mounts. An 18th Century large size portrait miniature on ivory study painting depicting General Sir Charles Stewart (1753-1801). Depicts Stewart in full military dress jacket and white curled wig. The portrait set within a boulle work brass and tortoiseshell frame. Label to verso. Measures approx; 19cm x 17cm.
An unusual early 20th Century watercolour and oil portrait painting study on paper depicting a gentleman in Chinese robes and hat with silver Pheasant civil rank badge to the centre. The male figure appearing to be a Western gentleman holding an opium pipe with blue detailing to the robe. Some obvious ware to the painting and held within a later frame. He included Syphilis amongst these, and his poem 'Syphilidis sive morbo Gallico libri tres' is found in the present work. 'Les éditions dites Cominiennes sont très correctes, sur papier excellent et avec des caractères qui ... sont assez beaux' (Fumagalli 275).
