An extremely attractive Edwardian satinwood Cabinet, the upper section of inverted breakfront outline profusely decorated in the Neo-Classical style with colourful flowers around a recessed mirror and serpentine shaped shelf, flanked with a glazed display compartment to either side on a bow fronted base, the centre glazed compartment with shelf and a decorated panel door to either side, each decorated with a female portrait inside an arrangement of leaf and floral swags and garlands, all raised on short square tapering legs, 82"h x 55"w (208cms x 140cms). Petrucci, Ferdinand Voet detto Ferdinando de Ritratti, Rome 2005, p.150, Catalogue No. 40BThis portrait is a workshop replica of Voet's original in the Silvano Lodi Gallery in Milan.Federico Borromeo (1564-1631) was made a Cardinal by Pope Sixtus V in 1593, when he was only 23 years old, and then Arch Bishop of Milan in April 1595. He followed the example of his elder cousin, San Carlo Borromeo in promoting the discipline of the clergy, founding churches and colleges at his own expense and applying everywhere the reformed principles laid down by the Council of Trent. He is most noted for his efforts to feed the poor of Milan during the Great Famine of 1627-28.

A William IV period rosewood and grained rosewood Davenport, attributed to Williams & Gibton, with three quarter gallery above a leather inset writing slope, on four mock and four pedestal drawers one drawer stamped with the digits 40880, the front with two turned cylindrical columns, on bun feet, 22" (56cms). An exceptional 19th Century ebonised, brass mounted and brass inlaid Credenza, of breakfront outline, the frieze with three oval porcelain panels decorated with flowers, the central door inlaid in the Neo Classical style and a centre oval porcelain plaque with a Female portrait, flanked to either side with a glazed door on a shaped plinth, 42"h x 78"w (107cms x 198cms). Yeats Family- A gold Locket mounted with seed pearls, containing a portrait of a young woman, engraved rear 'G.G. & S.C. / united 28 July 1789'; and a second gold locket containing braided hair, indistinctly inscribed rear, probably 'Broughton ob. .. 1778 & Broughton ob. May 25 1781, aet. 18' [slight damage rear]. Possibly from the Pollexfen side of the family. ( 2) Provenance: Yeats family, by descent, from Jack Yeats' Bank Deposit Trunk.

A collection of items relating to the family of Cottie (White) Yeats, including:-A gold locket enclosing a portrait of a moustachioed gentleman, Victorian, middle-aged, evidently John Philip White, Cottie's father (see envelope);-Four various rings, hallmarked;-An envelope inscribed in Cottie's hand, 'Mamma & Father / John Philip White / Georgina White', containing an oval miniature portrait of a Victorian lady, presumably Georgina; also death notice of Georgina White wrapped in mourning paper;-An envelope inscribed in Cottie's hand, 'Georgina White / Mamma's wedding ring etc., old letters of mine to her as a child - announcement of death - 1934', containing three childish letters from Cottie to Mama, circa 1874-5. Frances Charlotte Lambton (1812-1835)"Portrait of Lady Frances Charlotte Lambton wearing a Turban draped in a green shawl and grasping her gold chains," on ivory, inscribed on verso "Frances Charlotte Lambton Fecit, October 1830, Lambton Castle," later gilt metal frame, 4 1/4" x 3 1/4" (11cms x 8cms). (1)* The Artist married John George Brabazon Ponsonby (later the 5th Earl of Bessborough) she died aged only 23 at Bessborough House, Ireland.

John Hoppner (1758 - 1810)A fine oval, "Portrait of Thomas Dawson Esq.," (1725 - 1813), oils on copper, 11" x 8" (28cms x 20cms). (1)* Thomas Dawson 1st and last Viscount Cremore of Castle Dawson, Co. Monaghan, was an Irish landowner and politician from County Monaghan, Castle Bewson Co. Monaghan (later Dawson's Grove, Dartrey House and Dartrey Castle). He represented Co. Monaghan in the Irish House of Commons from 1749 - 1768 and on 28 May 1770 was raised to the Irish House of Lords as Baron Dartrey and elevated to Viscount Cremore June 1785. Bears inscription and note on verso.
