Neck Badge, 74x47 mm, GOLD and enamels by "Lemaitre, Paris", centre medallion with portrait of Christ, blue enameled reverse medallion, with white cross in the centre, surrounded by Greek inscription in gold lettering, suspension crown linked to the cross with the typical loop and thin hinge, ring and loop, original neck ribbon. There is a light to moderate degree of cracking in the pigment over most of the canvas surface and five areas where the canvas has been damaged in varying degrees, one in proximity to the top left hand corner with slight paint loss, another to the left of the top of the sitter's head with retouching, another to the right of the sitter's right shoulder being a pressure line with slight paint loss and not through the canvas, approximately 5 centimetres in length, a small one at bottom edge and middle with paint loss and finally one area, approximately 10 centimetres in length running vertically with retouching. . .

The following lots (62 to 65) belonged to The Rev. Dr. Dugald Christie CMG (1855-1936). He was a missionary active in China, founder of the Sheng Jing Clinic and Mukden Medical College in Mukden. He qualified in both medicine and surgery from the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and The Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. In 1882-83 he was sent to Mukden (now Shenyang) in North-eastern China as a medical missionary. THREE MOURNING BROOCHES AND A PENDANT two of the brooches are mounted in un-hallmarked yellow metal, one is set with pearls and inscribed 1819.1cm x 1.7cm, the other painted with a maiden with a wreath, 2.5cm diameter approx, the largest brooch is gold plated with black enamel and hair panel, 4.7cm x 4cm, the pendant is a sepia portrait in a gold plated mount, dimensions 4cm x 2.4cm.
