Attributed to Frances Hodgkins (New Zealand, 1869-1947), Portrait of a Lady Reading, watercolour and body colour, framed, 26 cm x 19.5 cm Condition Report: The grandfather of the consignor (gallery owner in London 1921-31) knew Frances Hodgkins for a number of years and wrote a book about him, but the consignor cannot guarantee that he acquired the picture directly from the artist
Attributed to Sydney Morrish (British, 1836-1894),Portrait of a lady reading, oil on panel, indistinct signature lower right, paper label to verso, framed, 18cm x 16cm Condition Report: Uninspected outside of frame. With short surface crack top right, very minor crack bottom left, overall dark and mottled appearance and detrioration to surface (possibly improved with some cleaning) and there is some general craquelure. No apparent repairs. Some wear and minor losses to frame.
19th century English school - pair three-quarter length portraits of a seated lady and gentleman, oil on canvas, 44x33cmCondition report: Removed from a local deceased's estate. Both canvases are original. Mid Victorian. Portrait of gent has various minor areas of paint loss. Craquelure throughout and there are a few bumps in the canvas. Portrait of lady has one or two areas of paint loss. Some craquelure. Few bumps on canvas.

Sir James Bacon, half-length wearing an elegant black dressSigned and dated 1892, initialled LL, oil on canvas 59.5cm by 49.5cmThe sitter was born 1833 and died 1917 according to a label to reverseCondition report: In an overall good and original state of preservation. Covered in a thick layer of dirt and discoloured varnish. Slight stretcher shadow. Isolated patches of fine but relatively pronounced areas of cracquelure across face. The varnish has deteriorated and has an opaque-like quality which is particularly evident across some of the darker pigments and tones of the background and dress. These areas also have cracquelure which is essentially stable. Very minor buckle to lower right-hand corner canvas, minor rubbing to edges. Essentially circular loss to lower right-hand corner which has been infilled. A further Vertical band with further infilling and strengthening from lower right-hand corner along right-hand side edge approx 3cm at the widest point and 10cm in length. A further patch of infilling to loss just above lower left-hand corner approx 1.5cm at the widest point and 3cm in length. Patch of retouching to upper left-hand corner approx 1cm diameter. Various losses to gesso frame. Odd very superficial surface scuff etc.Provenance; Presuumbly commissioned directly from the artist. The sitter is a direct descendent of the vendor.
Follower of Gerard Soest (1600-1681) DutchPortrait of John Tyrell of River Hall, Essex (according to inscription verso), half length, wearing a powdered wig and lace cravatOil on canvas, 56cm dia. (oval)Condition report: Old reline, cleaned and revarnished. The surface is somewhat flattened and the paint is somewhat thin in places as a result of the restoration process. Some lightly strengthening through the background with more concentrated patch at top of canvas approx 2cm at the widest point and 5cm in length. Approx 3-4 smaller retouches at his right shoulder and upper right of his laced cravat within his jacket. Further patch of retouching around the tip of his thumb approx 1 by 1cm. Another small patch or dash immediately above his first finger, outline and shadows around all fingers generally strengthened. Sporadic retouches of various lengths within lower curve and one or two more minor bits of infilling within background etc. Some surface dirt and discoloured varnish, slight stretcher shadow. Very small white surface mark at the edge of his right cheek, much of the retouching has discoloured and is evident by eye. Varnish generally has a somewhat opaque quality.

(oval)Contained in a decorative gesso and gilt frameAugusta Gordon (née Bolton) born in 1828 in Ontario, Canada. Married Colonel ECA Gordon and lived in Izmir, Turkey. Her daughter, Ann, married Frederick Heneage and their son, Sir Arthur Heneage, was the grandfather of the present vendorCondition report: In an overall good and original state of preservation covered in a thick layer of dirt and discoloured varnish. The varnish has also deteriorated and has an opaque quality in parts. Varying-sized cracquelure throughout some of which is more crazed and separated, notably across her right cheek, forehead and nose, through large parts of her white gown and also the background including one or two patches of lightly applied bitumem mostly within the background.

Samuel Shelley (1750-1808): Miniature Half-Length Portrait of a Lady, wearing white turban and white lace-trimmed dress, on ivory, oval, 10cm by 8cm, in gilt metal frame, signed and inscribed to reverseCondition report: Slight warping to the panel. Straight edges visible along the sides and the top, perhaps loss or originally in a different frame. The paper label to reverse has heavy loss.

Both with slight warping. The additional portrait in good condition but lacking the strut to the frame.
A Mahogany Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Jno Kent, Manchester, early 19th century, swan neck pediment, arch trunk door, inlaid case, 14-inch arch painted dial, dial centre painted with galleons and a portrait of Nelson, seconds dial, four seasons spandrels, arch with moonphase aperture, four pillar movement with an anchor escapement with striking on a bell, 239cm highCondition report: Case with small cracks and chips in parts, trunk door is bowed, base with a crack, sdie cheeks with wooden blocks added, late seatboard, movement looks complete, with pendulum and two weights.
