ATTRIBUTED TO TURNHAM BURTON, 19th century A portrait of Reverend Joseph Kirkman Miller, M.A., Vicar of Walkeringham, Nottinghamshire, seated with a red curtain behind and a church in the distance, oil on panel, 11.25" x 9.75", and the companion portrait of his wife, Mrs J.K. Miller, both in apparently the original gilt gesso frames, both paintings inscribed on the reverse "T. Burton, Pinxt 1840" and two pencil portrait studies of T.E. Miller and John Miller, both in glazed maple frames, included with the lot are family documents and research. See illustration
CIRCLE OF THOMAS GAINSBOROUGH R.A. (1727-1788) A portrait of John Parke (1745-1829), seated at a table beside an oboe and holding sheet music, three-quarter length, oil on canvas, 48" x 37.5", in a gilt gesso frame bearing namepiece "John Parke. Thomas Gainsborough. R.A.". John Parke (1745-1829) oboist, who studied the oboe under Simpson and musical theory under Baumgarten. John Parke was appointed principal oboe at the opera, and in the same year he played at the first Birmingham Festival, and also at the Three Choirs Festival at Hereford. He continued to perform at The Three Choirs Festival for 35 years. During his career he was also a concerto player at Vauxhall Gardens, first oboe at Drury Lane Theatre, and a chamber musician employed by the Prince of Wales. FELIX VEIHS DE WELDON (1907-2003), a carved marble portrait bust of a woman, head and torso with arms crossed emerging from a rough bust of marble, signed and dated 'New York 1941', 27" high x 21" wide See illustration. Felix Veihs de Weldon, an Austrian-born American sculptor, is best known for his Marine Corps Memorial at Arlington, Virginia, which depicts five US Marines and one sailor raising the flag of the United States on Ewi Gima during the Second World War.

In 1987, he accepted an invitation from Robert Hefner to come to the U.S. for the opening of the Harkness House Exhibition. He has remained there ever since, developing an impressive career as a commissioned portrait painter. Vendor states her great, great, great grandmother had to leave China because of the Boxer rebellion Red bound album. First picture water stained lower right. Some foxing Second and third pictures asa bove. 4th picture - Small split approx. 2cm left hand corner. 5th picture - small loss to bottom edge. 6th as above. 7th three small pin holes. 8th water damage. 9th - stain to left hand side and water damage. 10, 11 and 12 as above. Green bound album. All pictures with some water staining. 1st - split and small loss to top right hande corner. 2nd - small loss and slim splits to to bottom left hand corner. 3rd - small losses to corners. 4th - losses to bottom edge. 5th - split from top to bottom losses to outside egdes. 6th - Small holes, shallow splits. 7, 8 and 9 - similar condition. 10, 11 and 12 large losses. Armand Durant (French, 1831-1905) after Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn Portrait of the Amsterdam preacher Jan Cornelis Sylvius. He was a relative of Saskia van Uylenburgh whom Rembrandt married the year after. Sylvius became the godfather of their first child a late pull heliogravure from 1881 36 x 28cm (14 x 11in) Discolouraton along the top edge, bottom edge and sides.
