A Victorian ebony and amboyna bonheur du jour, the raised superstructure having a gilt metal three quarter gallery above twin panelled doors, having Sevres type porcelain portrait plaques, opening to reveal velvet lined shelved interior, flanked by twin shelves enclosing bevelled mirrors, and all on turned and fluted columns with gilt metal embossed capitals, the base having amboyna crossbanding, beaded brass mounts above an arrangement of five drawers, the whole supported on ring turned and tapering fluted supports united by low X-stretcher, all on pot castors, height 147cm, width 115cm

A FINELY CARVED IVORY-MOUNTED DAGGER, CIRCA 1880, PROBABLY DIEPPE, with curved double- edged blade of flattened-hexagonal section, ivory hilt comprising pierced S-shaped cross-guard and cylindrical grip each carved in high relief with well detailed scrolling tendrils, the pommel carved with a portrait head, perhaps Francis I, in its scabbard decorated with a stag and three hounds inhabiting foliage en suite with the hilt, the locket decorated with further hounds and sea shells, hound's mask basal terminal, fluted on the reverse, and fitted with ivory rings for suspension (small age cracks), 32.5cm; 12 7/8in

John Ingle Lee (British, fl. 1868 - 1891): a large oil on canvas entitled 'Home' in the Pre-Raphaelite manner, showing a young couple, she sat in a red shawl and mustard yellow skirt holding a sleeping infant on her knee whilst knitting, he dressed in a grey suit and hat pruning the shrubbery around the doorway arch, signed to lower right Jhn I Lee and verso with paper label stating No 1. Home, Jno I Lee, 153 Adelaide Road, N6, relined, 52 by 78 inches. *Provenance: Anon. Sale Christie's 4 November 1988. lot 209. Notes: it has been suggested that the gentleman is possibly a self portrait of the artist.
