Betty Sedgwick was better known as Betty May (1894-?1980) was a bohemian dancer and model who led an eventful life. Her third husband, Frederick Loveday, became an acolyte of Crowley's. The pair travelled to Sicily and took part in some of Crowley's rituals, although May only tentatively in order to avoid being thrown out of Crowley's Abbey and separated from her husband. She was the principle witness in the Crowley's libel suit against Nina Hamnett, testifying on behalf of the defence to witnessing the ritual sacrifice of a cat during one of Crowley's ceremonies.
