Two years later, he won a place at the RA Schools, where he was taught by Walter Sickert, who took an interest in his work. Rayner soon left the RA Schools and established himself as a drypoint etcher, adopting 'Henry Rayner' as his professional name. Throughout his career, he produced more than 500 etchings, but struggled to make a living. In 1945, London’s Brook Street Gallery staged a one-man exhibition of his drypoints. A little discolouration to the background.
